Ireland injured in training

Thanks for that Blue. Really interesting. I hope Stevie knows how much the fans appreciate his effort, commitment, attitude and of course his talent. I can remember the first time I saw him play, in a pre season friendly at Stoke under Pearce. He looked useful then, but of course he's five times as good now.

What really encourages me is that he's dissatisfied with his performances! He's no reason to be, but that's the attitude that drives improvement and being a world class player. He's got all the ability to be a Premier League legend. He's a shoo-in for player of the season. In an era when we hear lots about the Bentley culture, laziness, arrogance etc. Stevie is evidence that not all footballers are bad eggs.

Also I hope that he keeps his zany streak! No doubt next time he brings out the superman pants he'll get another rebuke from the FA, but I hope he ignores it - it's hardly offensive stuff, and players are supposed to be entertainers, not joyless robots.

If he is out for long then its going to hinder the chances of City winning the UEFA cup and fighting for the Uefa cup places in the league. For me he has been one of the top 3 best players in the league this season, there has been very few CONSISTENT players but this lad has been one of those very few. Without him i see the team struggling but should get through it.

Here, here! Super Stevie is a fans player and deserves the P-O-T-Y for me, he certainly has my vote!1

Steve's been carrying a few knocks throughout the season, the current one causing him problems was picked up a few weeks ago at Allborg and he's been struggling ever since. Today in training the same ligaments were damaged in a tackle and he had his leg in a cast to help protect the injury. It's sore and painful to put his full pressure on but it doesn't stop him from driving although he can feel it and he's hoping it will be easier by tomorrow. Personally I'd hope he rests up and gets fit for Hamburg as its a far more important fixture than the Arsenal one and if he damages it further being brought back too soon then it could damage him for potentialy bigger fixtures further down the line.

Do you him personally then? How about a Bluemoon interview? We haven't had one for a while.

Yes and he's a quality lad, being totally honest here he's the typical footballer every fan wants at their club, 100% committed on and off the pitch, has time for the fans and what they're saying and always prepared to listen. He said tonight he's already preparing himself for the close season and putting in the extra training for next year although we have some big fixtures left this season and he's looking forward to them first. Although everyone has commented on his form this year he believes hes still not satisfied with some of his performances and that we haven't seen anywhere near his best yet. If he wins the player of the season I'll ask him for an interview and his thoughts on this season.
I think every City fan who has watched us this season would say Ireland is player of the season, if they don't then they do not have a clue about football (and I never say that about other posters).

The one thing that could work against Ireland winning the player of the year is the fact that the people who decide who wins the season awards tend to focus on the top 4 and then consider voting for the players outside of that area of the premier league table. I am getting a bit carried away and going off topic so i will stop right here haha.

I know what you mean. Ireland deserves young player of the year but you just know Johnny 'played 5 games' evans will get it.

That's the least the lad deserves IMO. At the very least he deserves to be joint player of the season if not THE player of the season. What is the borderline for players to qualify for young player? It will be the most shocking decision EVER in football if Johnny 'played 5 games and done c**p' Evans gets voted for anything.

Well Gerrard is going to get player of the season surely.

Ireland will be City's player of the season but to suggest he might get the overall title is mad.

He might be in the running for young player though (if he still qualifies)

tell him to stop being a wimp!! WE NEED HIM!!! ;-)

ireland should surely get citys player of the season?

i think he should be in the running for young player of the year overall atleast, but you know whats going to happen, fabregas whos played about 5 games all season or someone will get it, biased cunts!!

for player of the season, it will be vidic or gerrard (just because hes played well for last 3 games, done fuck all before that), tbh there has been no one who has stood out by a mile this season, i would give it ashley young but if villa dont finsih top 4 theres no chance.

Youre completely correct, there is no chance of him winning the overall player of the season, anyone that says he should is definately looking at it through sky blue tinted glasses.
