It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

To be fair mate, every summer we do sign four or five players and the budget is always there for the ones who do want to come.

Last season it was Phillips, Ortega, Erling, Alvarez and Perrone.

And certainly had Erling and Phillips on the money.

This season Kovacic and Gvardiol and Pep's comments over the weekend suggest plenty more comings and goings.

To be fair, Alvarez was done in the winter beforehand. The rest, Haaland aside, are stocking fillers.
You have said all this defcon one stuff and we are ready to blow the roof off etc…

We can all say 4/5 incomings, all teams systematically refresh, but scale is important. You are using semantics to discredit his legitimate post.

We won’t wing it on a squad this size, Arsenal seem up to putting things right. Madrid have significantly strengthened and if Bayern get Kane… as it stands we are drifting back into the pack.

This new ffp stuff on wages, is it having an effect? For treble winners we are looking like trotters independent traders.
£90m for Rice and back off, it was £90m plus Borges, the £105m
Would like to see us but the bullet and not blink at the first sign of any competition.

Tbh @tolmie this season the number of posters on this thread moaning about a lack of signings is both annoying and embarrassing.

The club regularly delivers what the team needs in the opinion of those who really know what's important and necessary, ie the City management.

Many are acting like bloody spoiled kids demanding players who are neither likely or suitable for the team.

It is definitely a thread to avoid atm.
Wrong tag for tolm

I'd stick to playing the Sax

Here’s the crux of it, Pep’s out in his own. He has enabled us to wing it, no left back or striker for years. The squad was already light and key players have left, ok to reserve judgement till September, but we can’t be shopping in Poundland for replacements. I fear the PR machine and looking good to a wider audience is making us too thrifty.

I disagree of it being legitimate because it addressed the two main points.

Scale and cost. We haven't been shy on either and anyone claiming otherwise, perhaps some can take it for granted when we spend £100m on a player, the overall costs involved signing someone like Haaland, even the indifference to paying £45m for a starting England midfielder.

City have never spent £70m/£80m on a group of players in one window because we haven't needed to - yet.

This summer we have gone £90m for Rice, £90m for Gvardiol, £30m Kovacic.

We aren't blinking because of competition, we have our ceiling for everyone.

Pep says we have plenty of business to conclude incoming and out.
