Does anyone else reckon that the Transfer Window is ridiculously too long? It almost encourages chaos. We went into this window considering potential moves for a Centre Half (Although we really could survive if we trusted Tosin), some sort of cover for Left Back (but to be honest who of any quality could you get to come with knowledge of eventually playing reserve to Mendy?) and a Centre Forward.
To date, 16 days in, we have no Centre Half or Left Back, and have become overly involved in the chase of a player that we failed to land in 3 months of trying last Summer!
Its length should be no more than 10 days and this shortening would force players to accept the offers more quickly whilst this also may reduce much of the power of the biggest scourge in football, the AGENT. We could also look at tying in a 10 day Winter break to coincide with the window. This would reduce the impact of managers having to remove players from squads to allow transfers and having to play weakened teams. Of course the fact a player might miss his 10 day break might even discourage many of these players to at least see his contract through to the summer. Perhaps even the introduction of only being able to sign out of contract players in January might be a good thing for any players that have found themselves without club's in the previous Sumner whilst also helping the signing club avoid paying overly inflated transfer fees.
Only my ideas of course, but surely better than the current annual farce.
