He didn't even call Chelsea a small team. He actually said that we're not a small team so even with 10 men we aren't going to defend the 0-0. Amazing how stuff gets twisted by the media.

The funny thing is that this 'big team'/'small team' thing gets a bit lost in translation. Abroad it means a good or significant team. Here it's still perceived as about the number of fans.

Can anyone tell me if the Pellegrino thing is just insulting because the bell end said it wrong on purpose in some shitty childish way, or is there some underlying joke or dig that I'm not aware of?

Just a calculated insult, I believe.

As for "mind games", Mourinho talks shite. Probably because he's an arrogant shithouse.

Look where it got him last season.

Doesn't stop some of the low-rent journos lapping it up, unfortunately.

Cheers, just as I thought, what a shithouse!

His "mind games" only work when he has the best team.

Pellegrini, Sky, Dean, Mourinho and the journos:

1. Sky
When Shreeves asked if he was happy " to have come away with a draw with only ten men against the top of the table side, Pelle's answer was very significant. He said " no, because, even with one man less, we continued attacking because of the way we play. We understand what football is and we tried to do a good game for the people,we tried to play as a big team , that's the important thing".
Tyler kept on harking back to chelsea's win last feb which he calls" the Mourinho masterclass". But chelsea won that game not due to subtle tactics but because they outmuscled City that day.

Pellegrini was determined that wouldn't happen again andhe opted to counter Mourinho first by fire then by ice.He selected Mangala to partner Kompany in a wall of muscle and told the whole team not to give Costa an inch, not to let him have a cosy afternoon as he'd been having against the weaker teams. When, Mourinho saw that, he realised the chances of snatching a win were slight and Chelsea fell back into a total defensive posture. at the end, MP showed his flexibility by opting for ice and bringing on lampard because a cool head was needed.

2. Dean
Dean was once an excellent referee but since Webb quit,he's increasingly showing webb-type tendencies. appointed to ref a match which could be crucial to the destination of the title, he let this goto his head and could be seen tapping his forehead and grinning as if to say " you can't fool me, don't even think about it. i'm numero uno these days "
when it came to the critical incident, between Zaba and costa,he showed no common sense but acted punctiliously on the letter of the law. this was a hard-fought match, intensely contested, but at no time had it threatened to boil over.if dean had used his nous instead of his ego, he needed only to call the captains over, make it clear there must be no further such incidents and let the players get on with the game with eleven on both sides

3. journos and pundits
they simply don't get how a coach like MP can be both idealistic and also have steely determination. They have only two types of manager- tough guy, no nonsense bosses like Ferguson and mourinho who rule by fear and rollock their players or professors like wenger who play pretty football but who, as mourinho harshly but accurately put it are "specialists in failure".
So ,when Pelle corrects their false premises, they spout bollocks such as ' now he's won a couple of trophies, he thinks he can throw his weight about". or,as mcmanaman put it "he's got the hump!"

4.City v Chelsea
what stands out about chelsea is this-they have highly skilful players but they're not allowed to display their full talents. either, like Oscar, they're benched,or, like mata, they're slung out to the swamp or , like eden Hazard,-who, sadly, was lined up for the etihad but the deal fell through-they're kept on a leash.
but those of us who were there onsunday to witness an enthralling game in a fired-up atmosphere won't forget the all-out attacking play of david silva, jimmy milner, zaba, fernandinho and aleks kolarov plus the way vincent kompany and eli mangala turned rugged defence into fast breaks-and which, had it not been for dean's decisions, would almost certainly have resulted in victory.

Seen a lot of Managers come and go at City...but I am genuinely loving Pellers

His press conferences are piss funny...almost awkward

The press asking him shite questions, Pellers saying he doesn't want to talk about it...followed by uncomfortable silence until someone else chips in

He knows how to bat straight i'll give him that
