Metro Tram stop at COMS - Etihad

Does anybody have any news on when the tram line from Piccadilly to the stadium is opening? All I can find online is that they were testing the line in June

it's going to be the end of this year now, not enough trams and not enough drivers yet.

That would sound reasonable if the project was in its infancy.

Seems the Metrolink line to Droylsden, passing by the Etihad, now has an opening date of February 11. This means the first home game it will be in use for (unless there's a cup game that comes up) is Chelsea on Sunday 24th Feb. You will be able to get the tram from Droylsden or town to the match from this date.

They closed some roads after the Reading game so they could test their match day protocol. Did it cause any major problems? Is it going to cause problems to people who drive to the match?

I didn't notice anything unusual on the way home.

There's a story on City's web-site about road-closures after Watford game too.

At least it does look like it really will open in February after all the premature announcements in the past

I have heard it will be open before we leave Maine Road, but not 100% certain I believe it yet.

Need more beer outlets in City Square though otherwise the beer queue will be longer than the one for the tram.
