Micah Richards - The Pump

Bulking up a bit has helped Ireland no end.

Micah was big and powerful on his debut.

By all accounts Ireland did/is doing martial arts & running with weights as his major gym activities, these are perfect cardio and strength improving exercises and it shows as he's now got a near perfect physique and strength for a footballer. Richards if he is doing too much weights will end up too top heavy, slow and loose stamina and flexibility (hence why his jumping and sprinting is going to shit). He's looking more like a muscle guy and the majority of muscle guys normally have poor cardio conditioning.
Sprinters do nothing but weights. When Micah broke into the England set-up, everyone raved about his physique, now that is the cause of the problem. I think his problems are in his head, and I mean that kindly. Questions of confidence, not sanity

I think it's fairly obvious that he has lost a lot of pace, and a fair bit on his vertical leap. I'm sure there are confidence issues, but there are also clearly physical issues.

And I wonder just how his confidence has been helped by Hughes PR hanging him out to dry in the Telegraph yesterday.

This must be right. I love the fella and just want him to be the best he can. He could still be the most England-Capped player that MCFC will ever have. It is players like him that make me proud to be a blue, not the Robinhos of this world, fantastically talented as they are.
