#### 12/01/17: it's now a free download for a limited period via this link - http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/14660970.2016.1276238. May as well download it as it's free. Cheers ######

I know quite a few Bluemooners follow my research and are always interested in the latest stuff so I thought I'd post details on here of a new article I had published yesterday. It's on the birth of football in Manchester and explains how Manchester went from being a rugby City to a soccer one, with some comments on lacrosse in there. There are a few mentions in there of City and United which I think a few Blues may like.

The article is an academic one and can be downloaded via university or some library accounts here http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/14660970.2016.1276238 I'm trying to persuade the publishers to give free access for a limited period so when I do I'll mention it here and would then encourage everyone to download it ASAP. Hopefully that will be before Friday, but if you do have access via a uni or FE etc now then please download it.

Cheers Gary

Interesting how you use the word soccer, I'm guessing it's becoming more accepted globally?

I suspect Gary was using the word to differentiate ''rugby'' with ''soccer'' given as both have the title ''football'' within their official titles. But I'm sure Gary can give you the definitive word

And despite people thinking "soccer" is an American word, it's origins are undisputedly English,
