Paul Power interview in The Independent

That was a good read, but unfortunately for him his thoughts are a bit old school the way City has transformed over the last few years.

We have and hopefully always will produce some good local young uns who might make it all the way,but it is a damn sight harder now, especially with the influx of young foreign kids offered to English clubs this day and age.

I am old enough to have witnessed Power and some of the others he mentioned there in their playing days for City, but he answered his own question really,he never won anything, football has changed, even at our beloved club, and I'm sorry to say but characters similair to PP have to acknowledge it.

It appears Joe Corrigan,Tommy Booth,Alex Williams, from that era, after Colin/Mike/Franny I mean are adapting to this new era,as they are at all home games, smiling and absorbing in their roles with an MCFC blazer and tie, although he didn't come across bitter in his interview,he could easily be a meet and greeter on match days..............mind you it would be some commute from the south of France I suppose now !!

Forgive me but isnt that whole piece just dig at City and their new found riches?

EIDT
I just see the same old narrative they like to spin..... Rich oil club City dont bring through the homegrown, we just buy. But Utd do and Rashford is an example of it. fucking boring journalism.

I would rather see a piece written about how good journalism has paid the price for commercialising itself and even the news.

I think there's a bit of truth to what he says, most of the best sides in the last 10 years have had a few local players, or at least youth products, in the team. Barca, Bayern, Real Madrid, Juve, Atleti etc.

It's not the cause of their success, but it probably provides a bit of an edge.

..........Of course, then Peter Swales comes and says to me, ‘Next time I make you an offer and someone makes you a cheaper offer, come back to me’.”

Should have told the tw*t to get lost, and next time to make me the cheapest possible offer then I know not to come back to you

With respect to the subject of the article then give it a few more years and the Academy will produce local talent for City In the meantime it would be nice if those on our side didn't give the media the opportunity to slag the club off
