Put simply - goalies don't win games for you.
Yes, 38 goalless draws would most likely end in relegation, that's why goalscorers are the most expensive players.Put simply - goalies don't win games for you.
Joe Corrigan was worth a billion in his day, especially after his change of direction save on the line from Alan Clarkes header at Leeds in the late 70's Never seen a finer save.. Stepney won save of the season though with a routine tip over the bar... That's how far the bias goes back, Anyone remember it, may have been a cup match ..!
Supply and demand. It's as simple as that
In this world of crazy transfer fees, why are goalkeepers so (comparatively) cheap?
Isn't a top class keeper essential for a team wanting to win anything?
Isn't the goalie one of the three(?) most important positions on the pitch for a manager to get right?
Buffon went for far and away the biggest transfer fee, everybody else circa £20 mill tops. Talk of Joe going for £20 mill, when de Gea almost went (wish he had) that was allegedly for £25 mill (admittedly with only 1 season left on contract)
Top defender - £50 mill
top midfielder - £90 mill
top goalscorer - 3 (sorry, 9)figures?
Joe Hart can arguably claim to be in the top 5 in the world in his position, so why isn't his transfer fee in the region of £75 mill?
