Queues

If a terrorist wanted to cause maximum damage with least risk of being stopped they'd attack outside the ground about 10 mins before ko

Busier than normal today.
Don't see the point in random searching - either everyone or nobody.
Bag searches are a waste of time too. Woman walked in in front of me and was asked to show inside her bag. The look must have been less than a quarter of a second. As if someone who is trying to sneak something in (gun/bomb?) would leave it on the top of their bag and not put it underneath the other rth

Fair point, I wouldnt be surprised somepoint in the future if there is a perimeter fence put up with searches done before entry into the perimeter and city square. For those saying the searches are ineffective, thats true too but the conclusion there would be more effective searches, not scrapping them and no queues.

I know we can't go down the profiling route but seems mad that people like my old man are now being searched and x raid. First went in 1952!

Could we not go down the finger print recognition system for season cards??!!!
As a mere kid who first went in 1959, I quite agree with the fingerprint idea, especially for seasoncard holders. It wouldn't take long to scan a fingerprint into the clubs information system, as it would be a one - off exercise, and the technology is relatively straightforward to obtain and implement. Even my mobile phone has this system in place as a security feature. There could be separate queues , especially if you have held a card for, say, over 3 years, which would prove your "loyalty", as opposed to someone turning up with a printed match card. In the scheme of things, the cost of implementation would be negligible compared to the time savings for the majority of supporters, as the security checks would then be targeting the more occasional visitors.

Everyone knows that those ISIS lads like to get to the match early for a good old sing song before kick off. None of this running late or stuck in the pub stuff for them. They like a good atmosphere and are in there getting the chants going an hour before kick off.

Therefore, the policy of getting to 10 minutes before kick off and letting everyone charge in makes perfect sense to me. Anyone saying it is mad must not have the same detailed understanding of the nature of the terrorist football supporter that City and Showsec have.

Also, I wonder how the conversation would go if one of these wands goes off when searching someone who has bad intent:

"Excuse me, sir. Can you show me what is in the bag."
"Why, yes, it's an AK47."
"That's against stadium policy, I'm afraid."
"Really? Oh well, I suppose there's loads of security here now to prevent me from entering?"
"Well, no, there's me, a twelve year old with a yellow coat and my colleague who is four stone overweight and diabetic"
"OK, well, here's my gun. Sorry to trouble you. How do I go about getting it back?"
"Write to supporter services and express regret for breaking the regulations. You will be issued with a 3 match ban but they reduce it if you express enough regret"
"Ah, fuck it, I'm a fucking united fan anyway. Keep the gun. See you later."

Got there 30 mins before kick off and usually walk straight in. Today had to start queuing at the bottom of the bridge. Barely moved in 25 minutes waiting there, then 5 mins before kick off they just let everyone in without searching. All they did was asked me what was under my hat, told them it was my head, took it off then walked in. Managed to get in just as they kicked off

I'm all for security checks, but if they are searching everyone then realise there are too many people and then let thousands in without checking then what's the point?
What took your head off are you wurzel gummidge ( for the older posters)

A few matches at the end of last season and this season they have had stewards stood at the green gate by city circle, and at the bottom of Joe Mercer Way checking bags.

The whole thing is a joke and I don't see the purpose, anyone with nefarious intent would laugh at it. The wands will detect metal but modern explosives be detected? The lack of 100% checks is just laughable, as is allowing items such as flasks which could contain liquids that could be mixed with others carried by an accomplice then left in a bag on the crowded concourse. How much training have the operatives had are they security cleared? I doubt it, therefore putting one in place who would let an accomplice in would be easy. If the club were serious about this then it would require airport type security checks with properly trained cleared staff, at the moment it's just a obstruction to entering the stadium in an efficient way. Problem they now have is if they stop it and an incident occurs.

God forbid it's true, but Showsec tell their stewards that there is a possible pre-match strike by a terroist, and they think OK, I'll still man the turnstile and check the fans just in-case I can stop a terroist. No chance! If that was any sensible person, you would walk straight out and hand in your yellow Showsec jacket. Whatever is going on is a joke, it isn't organized, and it's an iconvienience, and it's putting 100's of City fans at risk while queuing up outside the ground. But seeing as it's been going on all season, regardless of the threads on here, it seem's City aren't arsed. And if they were, they would at least explain why this is happening.

Just causing un-necessary delays and congestion.

If it is for security measures, at least prepare for each and every turnstile and staff it correctly. Having one person half hearted searching, creating a queue when there are multiple turnstiles available is poor planning.

^ No sexist shite today - the blokes were using the wand on women at B1 and B2, inc the highly threatening 74 year old woman and the 6 year old girl a few in front of her! So yeah, they now seem to be doing the "do them all" approach.

But as for all the threads on here about searches the past few months - i remember reading someone boast they got their hip flask in under their hat... and what happens today - city get people to take their hats off on the way in!

In other words - be careful what you boast about, walls have ears (or whatever the modern snooping phrase is!)

(and i still think most of the searching is to take that packet of crisps off people so they have to pay inside. You can't exactly turn crisp packet or a choccie bar into a bomb eh.. so why tables full of confiscated ones outside this season? We're not at the opera..! Oh dog shit alley where have you gone)
