Monaco post match

The major issue will be Monaco's pitch on the return.
It is as bad as Huddersfield (post Rugby League game) as it has poor drainage underneath being built on top of an Underground car park and has little soil between it and the roof of the car park.
Bobbling balls left right and centre.

We'll play a high line against anyone and everyone so mentioning it is pointless IMO.

Ferna played at LB but agree it didn't work last night.

Otamendi/Stones thing agree on.

Toure was immense last night, and we'll almost always have only 1 between the lines in that position. Pep doesn't like the double pivot it seems.

Think it's a deliberate tactic at times to let players run off our midfield. It meant that going the other way we were always absolutely deadly on the break.

All good points.
Fernando coming on did seem to dry up the Monaco chances, though that could be because they ran out of gas.

Been saying the same thing for a while about Sane, he has all the attributes to be as good as Ronaldo

The way he moves and runs reminds me of him a lot. Not sure he has the physical presence Ronaldo does but then again neither did Ronaldo at that age..........

I think it was a combination of Monaco running out of steam and also realising that maybe we could've taken the tie away from them in the last 10 minutes. I'm actually disappointed that we didn't get a 3 goal cushion in the end considering the chances that came and went in that mad 2nd half.

Think with Kolarov being injured he had to go with Stones + Otamendi AND I think that Otamendi having Ferna on that side exacerbated the situation. In general though I agree on Otamendi. Him and Stones have zero rapport and tbh, I think Otamendi is more likely to go than Kolarov as things stand this summer.

Pep has said he does not like both of our CB's to be right footed, and he's not going to play a back 3 without one being left footed, so I agree that unless we sign at least one top class left footed CB Kolarov has to stay.

I think we'll go back for both Bonucci AND Laporte this summer. Hopefully we get one of them this time!

Spot on, a refreshing change to see both teams trying to win the game by scoring goals and not parking buses Well done to both clubs a credit to football and if we don't win it I hope they do

He starts to fall before contact is made, what does the fraction of real time video have to do with it?
85 You have this very badly wrong mate.
1) It is not clear that the keeper got any meaningful touch to the ball
2) Kun does him and is taken out clear as day no question of a dive
3) penalty and red card as the foul was a deliberate attempt to prevent a goal
4) Yellow for Kun worst decision since WELL the last time we were denied a certain peno a few weeks back against Spuds

What a fantastic game of football that was.
Credit to Monaco for attacking and making it so enjoyable.
We looked so good going forward but its always going to leave a few gaps for teams to exploit.
Willie made a bad clearance for the 1st and redeemed his self with the penalty save and the block with his leg.
Kun looked back to what he is ie the best forward in the Premier.
Sane Silva Yaya KDB and Raz were outstanding.
Zabba made a difference in tightening things up when he came on.
Ref was awful as per, from SS3 it looked a clear penalty on Kun and how the fuck he got booked for it is baffling.

We should be thankful we have what we have. When we went ahead It would have been nice to go on and win 2,3 or 4 nil but that was never goin to happen. When they got that
peno I would have eaten you arm up to your elbow for 5-3.

The really disgraceful, unacceptable goal for me is their second. Ok, the third is a one on one, Stones allows himself to be physically bullied by a striker who is in blistering form – that happens (although I've looked at that about five times, and it may be an illusion, but it seems to me that Stones actually initially wins the ball, then tries to play a touch! rather than hoofing it absolutely anywhere, as you should do, when you're in your own area, if you get any kind of sniff, and against Falcao – but anyway, let that one go for the nonce, it may just be my mistaken impression and a deceptive camera angle, maybe Falcao always had the upper hand, and anyway the finish, let's just admit it, is sublime). But the second, I mean wt actual f! A dead ball situation, not from a difficult angle, that should be threatening nothing. Mbappé gets completely away from Otamendi (who should be clearly goal-side of him), then you see Otamendi look over at Stones briefly, as if to say 'Ok, mate, I've fucked that up, now you clean up'. Stones looks glassily over at Mbappé, but he's well aware that there's another Monaco attacker coming in completely unmarked, and if he commits to Mbappé, Mbappé will just square it behind him, leaving Willy on his own with an expanding net to defend. I know that Mbappé is bloody good, but that goal was just a complete mess between the two central defenders, initiated by what amounts to dereliction of duty by Otamendi.
Kolarov was injured, fair does. But I'd almost rather put my Norwegian Blue parrot alongside Stones than Otamendi.

Even Fabinho has come out and said subsequently that Monaco were lucky it didn't finish 6-3. That last period of the game was wild and really with better final ball/finishing the tie would almost be buried.

Didn't do much wrong for the goals! I'm not sure about that! The second goal was ridiculous and the other two poor.

Having said that had we been perfect, it wouldn't have been the game it was. Football is supposed to be entertaining and even if we do go out, I would rather us go out like that than the pathetic performances against Madrid last season.
Small margins. Plus, their forward play was really difficult to defend against at times.

Yeah that goal about sums up everything that is wrong with Otamendi. My best guess is that he completely underestimated the 18 year old kid's pace, power, and finishing. Before he knew it he was fucked and it was a goal. Should've listened to me last week when I was saying Mbappe is the real deal and City should sign him up!
