I'm telling you how people are feeling. I accept that this perception will be a distortion of how things are, as the vast man if our people are decent. But it has given the worst among us a perceived justification for hurling abuse.

These are the stories that make the headlines and the perception is reinforced.

Im sorry but no mate. Your trying desperately to bring the racist angle to the table and im having non of it when hundreds of thousands of eastern Europeans are coming here for economic as well as social reasons which tells me that rather than being some hell home you want to portray us as, its the complete opposite.

Now if you want to talk racism, how will those same eastern European countries fill a skills and population gap in the future? Where are the economic migrants going to come from because i fail to see hundreds of thousands of German, French, Italians or Irish as examples wanting to go live and work there?

African immigrants possibly into eastern Europe? Will that work or will that see the exact type of racism you want so desperately want to talk about at every opportunity and would they be welcomed with open arms?

Freedom of movement of people isnt working, doesn't work and is storing up a huge crisis for years to come.

And yet i work here with 2 Slovakians, 2 Polish, 1 lithuanian and 1 Nigerian and all to a person would have voted out yet are more than happy to be here as are there friends who they see and speak to. They can all see why this country has decided to vote out of the EU as they're all in agreement that it's just a big bureaucrats wet dream.

Let's hope so. If we find a wand.

There's no place like home, there's no place like home. :)

Europe needs migrants too. Racial problems will always be with us. I just don't agree making it worse helps.

Do you remember the UKIP posters using shell shocked refugees in flight?

Thats racism all day long.

You always go for the man........ Hypocrisy?

Made sense to me

No, not the man, the message, it was incomprehensible, but then clearly I don't have your insight.

As for you, I'm sure you're kind to kittens and small children, but as long as you brand everyone that holds a different opinion to you as traitors and fifth columnists, you will continue to be excluded from my Christmas list and no amount of pleading on your behalf will change that, tough I know, but you'll just have to live with it.

If it was a big recipient of EU cash then I can assure you that it wasn't all spent on a statue.

If the people living there didn't take the time to ask what the eu did for them and thought it was only a statue then they won't be in line for any intelligence awards.

Thick as fuck.

At least take the time to ask, if they don't then whose faults that? The EU I suppose?

I fully appreciate that, but my question is why was any money spent on a statue? It wasn't going to drive any tourism, money's not exactly in great supply across Europe at the moment and the area was crying out for more investment in key infrastructure and employment.

They (rightfully, IMO) will have thought "why should we be trusting our money to the EU to distribute as they see fit rather than trusting it to our government who we can vote out if they don't spend it in line with how we believe it should be spent?".

How are we making it worse when we currently have so many here working and living and contributing and the vast majority of brexit supporters more than happy and wanting for us to guarantee their futures?

At least you admit Europe needs immigrants so where are they coming from and do you think that eastern Europe, the area most in need in thee future will welcome immigrants in the same way we do?

I doubt it there is a growing far right wing that portrays immigrants as the enemy.

If anything us playing a part by making immigration a central tenet of our reasons to leave, gave those views something to hang on to and inspire them.

As is happening all over Europe right now. We broke the dam. You have to admit that.

No, we didnt break the dam as well you know we didn't.

So you accept that a region of Europe currently being depopulated by the EU policy of freedom of movement is not the go to destination for other economic migrants, especially ones of a different colour.

What is the EU going to do about that issue?

MP i completely and utterly reject the argument you are trying to put across that as a country, immigrants are facing racism and xenophobia on such a scale and are in fear as you put it.

As for your question. They are coming here in their hundreds of thousands and they are leaving huge skill and population gaps in their own countries that are a crisis in the making despite Billions of Euros in subsidies and countless further billions that wont fix what is a human issue.
You should reject it - it is pure nonsense

Well the only money getting spent us eu. I would be asking the gov what have you done?

One look around shoukd at least assist in this enquury.

But then again they never bothered asking why the statue.

These things are used to alert people to the fact the eu is investing money in areas of need.

Might be better ways.

Check out the European demographic time bomb stats.

Thats human history, people living longer thanks to better health and less children being born due to improved living standards, careers especially for women.

Its a global issue.

Free movement of people doesn't alter it or affect it.

The government probably isn't spending the money because it's having to spend it indirectly anyway, via the EU. Every penny spent by the EU in the UK could be replaced by UK pennies (and then some) if we didn't have to contribute to the EU.

Better ways than absurd vanity? Yes, I agree. It's pathetic, just like having offices in Brussels and Strasbourg and ferrying everyone and everything between the two once a year.

Bollocks- You don't half squirm. You accuse blueinsa of attacking the man and then immediately comment on the grammar of another poster in an attempt to ridicule I assume.

You just can never accept being wrong and twist in the wind to spin things

Of course it does. If you need people but prevent those people moving or create an impression you have a country that doesn't want them, then obviously it reduces your chances of mitigating against it.

Rubbish man.

How can free movement fix what is a global human issue of people living longer and wanting smaller families?

You move people from one country to another and you just create the issue in the country they have vacated.

its not rocket science.
