Very good transfer if happens, considering that we can afford only 1 new attacker. Versatile player, covers all front positions, can press all day long, press-resistant, good playmaker and winger in one pack. Didn't really like him at Barca but he's got better since then. But is he worth 50m with expiring contract? That's the question.

All day everyday - everything you want in a player.

Too old for me. We're moving towards a younger team, so spending big money on bringing in a 28 year old seems to defeat the point, he's older than Aguero who half our fans are falling over themselves trying to sell. If he was 3 or 4 years younger, then yes, all over it, but not now. We already have too many ageing players, so buying in another one seems very short sighted. Bit of a stroppy **** as well

They are both 28, and since when is 28 old in football?

Its not our money so its not a problem.

He's 6 months younger than Aguero. we could get 2 or 3 good years out of him

He'd obviously be a great signing if we could get him. Not convinced we will though.

I think Navas has given Pep food for thought, 2 weeks ago he was setting up a return to Spain, games against arguably 2 of the best attacking players in world football Hazard & Sanchez & IMO has done ok, there could be a new contract on the table (12 months) with Sagna & Zaba out the door. Navas + Fabinio + Maffeo :)
Navas has already moved his family back to Sevilla.

With the intensity of the league right now (not a positive, involves too much brainless piss and wind play that gets shown up against the European sides) it's 2 years from going from star player to squad player.

Affect's clever technical players less. I don't see Silva struggling do you?

No, I don't. Silva is as cerebral a player as you'll ever find. Sanchez is prized for his pressing and ball carrying, are you trying to say he's the same type of player?

Yeah I went full idiot on that and read Jun as Jan, either way they are essentially the same age and people want Aguero gone because he's getting on, yet want us to sign a player the same age.

Signing people who "we can get two years out of" for £50m isn't a great long term plan though. He's a guy who relies heavily on his physicality, he's right on the edge of the age where you start to expect that to decline, it just doesn't make sense to me to sign him, over a 22 or 23 year old who will give us 5 years at their peak, instead of maybe one or two before giving us another headache.

I was comparing him to Aguero. Sanchez is technically better than Sergio.
Aguero is by far and away the better player in the box. His style takes less energy imo and he'll outlast Sanchez at the top level.

^^ what this **** said :)

Then add in the factor that every transfer is a risk in itself (look at Bravo) and think over us knowing that Sergio works here and he's happy at the club.

But he's Premier League proven! Because that's a thing and there is definitely not a long list of big money signings who've moved from one PL team to another and not been a success

Totally hypothetical but if Pep see's Gabriel Jesus as our main centre forward, who brings more to the squad, Sergio or Sanchez? I've not got a downer on Aguero, just have a feeling Pep will sell him in the Summer. If he does Sanchez would be an obvious more versatile replacement. Others out there who could do the job but not sure £50m will get any of them.

Unless Sanchez is the 'bridge' between now and when the club hope that the academy kids come through?

To me he reminds me of a 28 year old Tevez without the attitude and lack of respect, he fits the bill perfectly as long as he doesn't replace Kun, I think the pressing of him and Jesus will be infectious.

If Gabriel Jesus starts, we already have a forward line with a 22 year old, 21 year old and a 20 year old. The kids (admittedly none of them from the academy) have already come through.

Sure - though if Sanchez could give us say 3 years, then you have 25, 23 and 22 years old plus the possibility of a couple of stars from the cream of the current academy crop. Sounds alright?
