It's Quiet - a new dawn

I hope you remember I changed my mind when it came to light his buyout clause is only £50m now and not £65m for another 2 years.

I do remember your absolute denial of Pogba going to the rags though last summer.

Also Milne joined a club and manager who agreed to play him CM, only a managerial change meant going to LB so unless you think Pep is heading somewhere I don't think it will wash.

I remember your backtrack, however, i think you'll find I kept my mouth shut on pogba after hearing to the contrary in June, billy was the 1st to tell me pre euros and that was that once the info was checked...

Now come on Dom, if you think James moved because he was promised cm then you're buying the greedy little ****s motives. There are no such things drawn in to contracts, only dollar signs!

I think it's time we all got our priorities straight... our whole back line is pretty much getting replaced next year, talk of Mbappe et al is fanciful (imo).. signings like that point towards the mythical messi money stashed away in professor plumbs boardroom... also, Fabinho will be cheaper than walker!!!
Wonder if we could get players cheaper than both. Like say Ricardo Perreira or Benjy Henrichs. That would be something.

We should also not buy too much into this segmented view of our squad. When the defense is weak, is often as much because the offense can't hold possession well or press well once we lose possession.

We can replace our backline and still have the same problem if the fwd and mids don't get the system.

Keeper and fullbacks I say. Then reevaluate from the top.

In 2013 the very same DoF bought Negredo, Navas, Fernandinho and Demichelis. All settled very quickly, all did well in their debut seasons, and all contributed massively to a league cup double.
And folks don't think Pellegrino was a good manager :-)

I agree to an extent, however, the measurable difference of having two 'thoroughbreds' at full back will elevate our retention of the ball. A great deal of what we're seeing re:sane and sterling (both shattered), is because of the burden put on them from a defensive standpoint, not that this won't exist but it won't be as frequent..... our attack continues to be slow in its build up due to the inability to get out and move beyond the midfield lines, it's integral to what pep is trying to achieve (imo)!!

Fabinho has told his suitors he isn't interested in being played as a FB. United have told him via Mendes that he'll be Carrick's replacement and Pogba's partner in that midfield. I think he's going there mate unless we suddenly have a change of heart and promise him he'll only be a CM.

Jesus Christ. At this rate, rag cnuts are going to have the transfer window that we dreamt about. B. Silva, Fabinho and Griezmann (potentially) in one window would be huge.

Or understanding of the fact that they play two different positions.

It was a hypothetical situation if Mbappe was here and someone had Mbappe replacing Jesus over Sterling and the discussion led from there. Jesus can play any forward role more efficiently than Sterling anyway.

all does sound abit like that mate but could just be the usual rag media drive bollocks to sell season tickets etc

The pivot is still the most important gap in the squad. Yaya's gone and there's been no talk of anyone worth replacing him let alone improving on him. If we had someone who could spread the ball quickly to the forwards, and also stop counterattacks and midfield runners going at the defence we'd be a long way towards where we need to be.

Well that is as conflicting as it gets, as I've been told that spot (CM) at the rags is already sewn up, nailed even, so if he is going there then it's a strange twist.... the strength of the coach will be at play this summer, personally, even though it's Mendez in the advisory role, it's fabinhos dad who pulls the strings (apparently)...

We'll see I guess!

Who are they getting in CM?

and dont forget ronaldo on the left, bale on the right and Kroos just sitting behind them............

The rags will offer him just as much money to play in his preferred position, I don't know why you think he's going to be fooled into playing a position he doesn't want to, or even that Pep would consider tricking a player into the squad on false pretences which seems to be what you're advocating.

No trick, I'm sure Pep could point to Lahm and Alaba to show how his fullbacks aren't just fullbacks, but integral to the whole team including the midfield.

Plus we all know that Mendes players end up there.

But still a fullback. Lahm played 90% of his games for bayern under Pep as the pivot, I'm sure Fabinho would be fine with that, but that's not what Zin is suggesting, he's suggesting Pep tells him he's coming to play in midfield and then plays him at Right Back exlcusively.

Not to mention if we have any interest in Walker, we aren't looking for a fullback who comes inside to play in midfield.
