Essentially, he was brought in to seal the deal as Otamendi's long term agent was struggling, as you rightly state.

City had no issue with his involvement, however.

When you say your feared the worst on Pickford, you mean you're worried we're interested. I doubt if he came he'd be our only signing and if we sign a homegrown sub keeper that means we don't have to buy a player to fill out the squad.

I was told that City agreed a fee in December but then he got injured. I don't think that it'll remain the same now though. I reckon he won't cost more than 20 million pounds max.
