Seasoncard Renewals 2017/18

Got I feeling they will put them up otherwise they'd been announcing it in the e-mail just sent. Do not see how they can possible justify it though as the huge tv deal kicks in at the end of this season. Will renew as I'm lucky and can afford to but any increase is probably meaning others will not and won't help the empty Etihad jibes, in my opion should be reducing prices and have the ground bursting to the seams and then expand the North Stand.

Yeah, I've got that feeling too but holding off calling the club out until we know for sure. It could be that they're testing the water and going to gauge opinion before making a final decision - last year when fans remonstrated en masse about the PSG ticket prices, the club sat up and took notice and dropped the prices for the semi-final against Real Madrid as well as freezing season ticket prices. Personally, even if they're just considering an increase at this stage and do actually end up freezing them, that's quite a poor show given the huge increase in TV money they've received this season plus we're going to end up without a trophy and maybe even out of the top 4.

I'm out, just consolidates my position if they increase it again. I'm enjoying local football to my area more, and it's much more cost effective.

It's obviously already been decided. With the announcement only 5 days away all the emails and pdf's will have been prepared so whatever we say on here will make zero difference

And in the meantime I've received an email asking me to vote on which design of scarf I'd like to receive with my membership pack for next season!!!

Don't they realise we couldn't care less about this shit and just want to watch City as cheaply as possible and have the team play good football with honest and fair officials and to be able to get to and from the ground in reasonable time?

How about this ?

So how would you feel that the 5% increase includes domestic cup games for all season tickets holders like what they do at other premier league clubs?

A big no-no for me that.
A season ticket is for league games. If you want to go to cup games buy them separately.

Applying a percentage increase and then trying to justify it by saying all your domestic cups are included is akin to a forced compulsory cup scheme.

I've been watching City regularly since September 1965 and gone from the Scoreboard End to the Kippax, the North Stand, back to the Kippax and then the Family Stand at Maine Road, and at the Etihad from the Family Stand to Colin Bell level 1

Maybe it's an age thing but I just don't enjoy it any more for all the reasons listed on previous posts

I've been thinking of not renewing on cost grounds recently but if the price goes up then I definitely won't be renewing, I can't afford or justify the expenditure anymore

But I also think that the club need to be very careful what they do re costs in the next few seasons as the football bubble will burst one day and all the corporate's will do a runner as quick as they can and where will that leave them if they have alienated us, the real fans with all that has gone on over recent seasons plus price rises

They need to be very careful what they wish for in my opinion

Could see the club doing something like this to increase attendances at cup games. IF - a big if - they are going down this route I think it would be fairer if there was the option of paying a little bit more for a cup games package. Obviously this is a gamble for the club and fans depending on the draws. I think the take up would be good and it wouldn't alienate fans who didn't want to pay extra.

Anyway you never know, they could be planning a big surprise for us all with reductions in a blaze of publicity on Tuesday.

Totally agree. Any packages they offer that include cup games must be optional rather than compulsory. If it's attractive enough then the take up should be good and as you say it won't alienate the fans. Obviously, if we end up with loads of away draws and no home ones then the club will have to refund what extra money we shelled out for the cup package.

You could argue that the cup scheme kind of deals with this anyway but I think with it being effectively "pay as you go", some fans are put off as they don't quite know when the money is going to come out of their bank account. Paying a sum up front along with your season ticket for a cup games package front-loads the cost but at least fans know exactly where they're up to.

I know nothing's been confirmed yet, but didn't Liverpool fans stage a mass walkout around the 70th minute when they were told about increases and the club eventually scrapped the idea? Could something like this be done if we see the same situation?

Yes but we're City fans and will either shrug our shoulders and not renew or shrug our shoulders and say "Well it's not too bad I suppose". The only time we got off our arses was to get rid of Swales and that was about 10 years too late.

Yes, against Sunderland last season. Think it was the 77th minute as they were proposing a top priced ticket of £77 in that new stand of theirs. I would add that the walkout was the culmination of around 12 months of discussions they'd been having with the club about pricing in the new stand so wasn't just something that was decided a couple of days before. The group that organised it were as surprised as anyone that Liverpool backed down so swiftly after the walkout and were in the process of planning their next course of action.

It's a weird feeling that with all the players we have, Guardiola, the academy, etc, that this season is the most disconnected I've felt from City in 23 years.

Whether it's down to having two kids, taking on a mortgage and so on, I don't know. But this is the first time that I've ever even questioned not renewing.

A season ticket rise wouldn't help, but then the atmosphere, piss poor customer service, REFEREES!!!!, lack of academy players, etc, all has to be taken into account first. The lack of passion concerns me too and it seems to be running through the entire club.

There needs to be a huge change in the culture of the club if we're going to recapture it.

If I renew, the only reason will be to watch the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane develop into world class players.

This is EXACTLY how I'm feeling.

I need something to convince me to stay and just don't think it'll happen. Any price rise and that's it, for me.

There's something not right about the game at the moment. World Cup coming up next year and just not bothered one bit.

I think the passion and connectivity has affected a lot of us.

City is no longer a local side so to speak, it's now a footballing power that has to think about interests outside of Manchester more so than ever.

We are a tourist attraction now rather than a community come-together.

It saddens me to see so many unhappy blues on here and i do see all your comments as being very valid, i hope the club look at foums like bluemoon and understand how the real fan feels about our beloved club, will they do anything, we will have to wait and see.

As we get older we tend to take on more responsibilities so the football isn't the only thing in our lives and as such I think at least part of the apathy is as a result of that. Of course, there are plenty of other reasons too - for me, it's the gentrification of the game over the past 20 years or so that grates me the most but things like ever increasing ticket prices, the obsession with monetising fans, and kick-off times so often changing for TV that annoy me too. I suppose that all comes under the gentrification umbrella but if there was an announcement tomorrow that safe standing areas were going to be allowed in English football and City were going to redevelop the North Stand to embrace this with a Dortmund-style Kop and affordable tickets to boot then that alone would go a long way towards restoring my passion for the game. As it is, I still have a lot of enjoyable days out watching City but it's often because of the people I'm with rather than what happens on the pitch, and if I was to jack it in I would be bored shitless on a match day.

The problem is that the club would quite happily see an entire stadium filled with tourists from outside of the country if it meant the stadium got filled and all payed £50-£60 a ticket.
