It's almost like clubs have set a default £50m price tag on our targets which is funny to me. According to rumours doing the rounds we are interested in Walker, Mendy, Moraes,
Fabinho, Alexis among others and all these potential transfers look like they'd cost £50m ish. It wouldn't be long before we begin to hear that Tielemans is worth £50m.

The market within the last 5 years has gone insane.

The big difference I believe is with defensive players and goalkeepers.

No longer are those players seen as secondary to attackers now as clubs and agents have cotton on to the fact that they are just as if not the most important players in the modern game, especially ball playing defenders and goalkeepers, and fast, technical fullbacks.

Another one is young promising players. Clubs are scared they are going to miss out so will happily pay £50m for inexperienced, unproven but promising talent.

Mbappe could end up being the worlds most expensive player. At 18!
 
City need to grow a strong number of English player in the team.
so that English referee would not feck up City easily, due to language barrier and other reason.
 
Walker would be an upgrade on what we currently have, and has the bonus of being both English and seemingly available. Despite that, it's still not a transfer that appeals to me, particularly at the price being suggested. I just don't think he's that good.

meh, like you say he is better than we have but doesn't get the juices flowing, especially for £40-50m!

He's not. I'm not one to knock Txixi but, should he start to dance with Levy, he'll get battered. We might get Walker but we'd end up paying over £50m and only get him on the last day of the window!
 
Not my first choice. But I think he is genuinely a good fullback. And if We were to take one fullback from Stutterham, he's the one I'd take.

I really hate the idea of watching him run off he end of the pitch looking at his feet, but there are few fullbacks around worth shit & we have to sign some.

I suppose I can get used to it if it happens. And he's big so it helps at set pieces.

He's a great athlete but he really is shit for brains.
 
Walker is a decent full back but a bit of a tw@t. I'm not a huge fan but as he's home grown and a full back I'm happy enough.
 
If we played Navas at full back for a full season we'd have our own Kyle Walker by the end of it... and we shouldn't play Navas at full back.
 
Oh jolly, another Sterling/stones situation. We will pay triple of what he is worth just because ''engrish''. And most fans will want to replace him within year when they run out of excuses, and new summer with shining toys on the market arrive.
