I would say so. Neither has the speed that Jesús possesses, and he has proven that he can do a job at RB over the last few games. Him supporting Raheem down the right must be an even more frightening prospect than having to combat just one of them.

And not only will we have a back-up right-back, but a ready-made understudy for Sterling at RW, who knows the manager, the squad and the system that Pep plays.

Also, if as @manygoose says, it frees up money to strengthen other areas of the squad, I'm all for it.

Very. Navas I undersand. I hope he stays. Not as a winger, but as a full back. He's been our best full back by far. Bit worrying that players like Zab and Toure are reportedly being offered terms. We should be planning on replacing these players. If we start a new season with Zab and Toure in the 1st team squad then we might as well forget it. I'd find that hard to believe

Respectfully disagree. He's been part of our defensive demise and a poor replacement/alternative to Zabs. Regressive negative player with no pace or talent.
 
Zabaleta I could understand...he's a big leader on the pitch and in the dressing room and if he was 3rd choice RB, plus occasionally playing in midfield like he has done so well, he could be a great influence - plus he's the kind of character we should want to keep at the club after he retires.

Navas doesn't make sense when you've got players like Maffeo who have done everything asked of them and yet still find their path blocked by ageing, past it players, this time ageing, tiring and with only 5 games at RB in the last 4 years.

I disagree but fair enough. If it were down to me i'd be buying 3 new full backs because that is what we undoubtedly need. Highest priority for next season is fulbacks and a new top notch GK.
 
He's done a reasonably good job at right back, but that's about it. However, a bit of pragmatism is required as we can't buy 4 full backs. That said, where does Maffeo fit in?

I can see Navas turning it down, anyway. I'm sure(I'd hope) we'd only offer 1 year as a stop gap whereas, I imagine, Seville would offer 3 years
 
Disappointed that we are offering him another contract.
Get rid of Navas, clichy, Sagna and Yaya - Really need to move on.
 
As much as I like Maffeo and think he will be excellent, with his current ability and experience I don't think he'd look anywhere near as good at RB at this level as Navas has.

Agree with everything else you say there and if we don't we're in trouble.
 
Surely this is a joke?
Navas is terrible, can't cross, never scores and offers nothing.
Disgraceful if true.
