Pep: I would have been sacked at Barca or Bayern.

Bobby doesn't say such thing.
yes we know City are not in the same league with Barca or Bayern, yet.
but those statements from Pep doesn't benefit him at all with the fans.
The only fans it doesn't benefit him with are those who are too stupid and insecure to be rational and look into the context.
I could have told you the names of the half dozen who are all over this on page one.

Well for a start I said we'd had a better league campaign which is an indication of how we've performed across the whole season. However, most importantly, i've watched the football we've played this season with my own 2 eyes and it's been streets ahead of the half arsed, sometimes fully not arsed performances that were given to us last season.

Its also worth noting although it will be ignored that last season, points where the benchmark as to how poorly Pellegrini had done compared to the previous yet here we sit, 8 points better off after 36 games and yep, you guessed it that doesnt matter and we have not improved.

Just another story for the media to have a bit of fun with us, the implication being that we're not a big club. He who laughs last laughs longest, so let them have their giggles for now and see where we are in a couple of years. As fans, I do think we can be a bit sensitive to this kind of thing too. We're not as big as Bayern or Barca yet and I don't see a problem with the manager implying that, especially as there is probably as meltonblue says, a problem of language/context too.

Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who had ousted Joe Hart and watched his replacement goalkeepers fumble and flail.
Consider for a moment that Pellegrini had dropped Sergio Aguero for a trip to the Nou Camp and subsequently seen his side thumped 4-0.
Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who persisted in picking Aleksandar Kolarov, a defensively suspect full-back, at centre-half, even when he keeps on letting the side down.
Consider for a moment that Pellegrini repeatedly overlooked Vincent Kompany on those occasions when the captain was fit to keep faith with other central defenders who continually fall short.
Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who had spent £150 million last summer but neglected to address the glaring weaknesses at full-back, instead stockpiling wingers and forwards.

Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who insisted on playing out from the back with players who do not look comfortable doing so. What would the reaction be?

It does not take a giant leap of the imagination to know. Listening to City’s powerbrokers talk a year ago about Guardiola, it was clear he held an almost mythological standing in their eyes.

Twelve months on, the Spaniard looks far more mortal.

We got the link when you first posted it thanks.

Add some context and I don't see any issue with Pep's comments. In fact, it sounds like he appreciates being afforded a second chance. Be fascinating to see what shape we're in and where we are this time next season.

Woke up , heard that, thought slow news day who cares. Looked in here thought yes, 'course the poor sensitive ones on here, getting all het up about nothing.

Ousting Joe Hart was correct.
We were comfortably better than Barca until the sending off of Bravo.
Kolarov has been just fine at CB and hasn't let us down at all, in fact it's been his best season in a while.
Kompany has been managed just right, given plenty of time and consideration to get back to full fitness both physically and mentally and we might just get another couple of seasons out of him because of this.
The full back situation I kind of agree has been a poor decision but the players up front who we're supposedly stockpiling? Well those players are going to be the reason we have success in the future.
There's nothing wrong with playing it out from the back, it's a philosophy that the most successful manager in a generation lives by and whilst it's not been perfect, the benefits have far outweighed the negatives.

In short, the author of this article is a dick.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't!

We have a rule mate as to quoting articles and have no issue with you pasting an opening paragraph followed by the link for those that then want to read it but you cant keep posting the link on several posts and paste the full article as it breaches our rules which are there to protect the site and Ric from getting into trouble with these publications.

Please describe the Emperor's new clothes, I cannot see any!

massively under achieved after the pomp at his unveiling, and him making all the right noises to the fans about players wanting to play for the fans etc.

Next season is a huge season for him, needs to get the balance right and stick with and i think 2 trophies will be a minimum for us, after all the rags are going to win 2 after playing the most boring football ever !!

just the PL title will be enough

Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who had ousted Joe Hart

True, we wouldn't have praised Pellers enough for making the right, though difficult, decision to oust one of the most error-prone GKs in Europe this season. I don't think we praise Pep enough for making the right, though difficult, decision either.

Consider for a moment that Pellegrini had dropped Sergio Aguero for a trip to the Nou Camp and subsequently seen his side thumped 4-0.

Consider for a moment that we were in control of the game until our goalkeeper was sent off. Consider for a moment how any team would be able to handle such a situation against the best attacking lineup in football.

Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who persisted in picking Aleksandar Kolarov, a defensively suspect full-back, at centre-half

We wouldn't have praised him enough for this decision either, though obviously he didn't have the foresight to make it.

Been Kolarov's best season for years.

Consider for a moment that Pellegrini repeatedly overlooked Vincent Kompany on those occasions when the captain was fit to keep faith with other central defenders who continually fall short.

Consider for a moment this article is two months old and in those two months Kompany has played almost every game.

Consider for a moment that it was Pellegrini who had spent £150 million last summer but neglected to address the glaring weaknesses at full-back, instead stockpiling wingers and forwards.

Pellegrini did neglect the weaknesses at the back. It was simply not possible to cover all the gaping holes in the squad Pep inherited in one single window

It does not take a giant leap of the imagination to know. Listening to City’s powerbrokers talk a year ago about Guardiola, it was clear he held an almost mythological standing in their eyes.

Consider for a moment Pellegrini won 14 trophies in his first 4 years of management alone. Consider for a moment Pellegrini is cited by players (ex and current), managers, pundits and professionals as the best coach in the sport. Consider for a moment Guardiola was brought in as part of a long term project to transform the club, not bring instant but limited success.

Twelve months on, the Spaniard looks far more mortal.

Because he is.

Get fucked with this vapid, click-baity bullshit whataboutism.

How have we massively underachieved?

I like to post in threads before I've read them, so I don't get influenced by it. I've just gone back and you're right, there are some snowflakes. It's inevitable that if our manager says anything that has a negative slant, the rag press will seize on it. Lo and behold, who was one of the first on the scene? Simon fookin Stone, one of the biggest rags in sports journalism. Swallowed hook line and sinker by the easily led.

Some Many City fans have turned into complete and utter wankers or they're not City fans at all.

Some of you are turning into rags/dipper clones - offended by everything and entitled to all !

Grow up ffs !

Pablo i agree with what you have written, doesnt change the fact that he pissed about making a ridiculous amount of changes constantly. Playing from the back is great and its good to watch, but sometimes you have to move it a hell of a lot quicker from back to front than we have
