Explosion at MEN Arena/Victoria Station

I am still struggling to come to terms with what happened. My thoughts are with the families of those affected.

I do feel somewhat concerned by the fact that the raids and arrests following have been so gung ho and "public". It suggests a real level of panic from our security services who feel they have missed this and perhaps something bigger.

I have full faith that they will find those responsible and uncover further details but our criminal justice system relating to terrorism needs to change. There needs to be a significantly higher level of monitoring and information sharing and the British Islamic community needs to continue to improve in their key role in eradicating any discussion linked to extremism.

Totally disagree. The Religion allowed the divides to remain. What had happened 2 or 3 hundred years ago would have long been forgotten, people have intermarried. Saying they are from different cultural backgrounds is false. They are all essentially Anglo-Saxons and Celts, of the same genetic make up as people from Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow & Dublin. Without religion all divides would have not have prevailed for 300 years.

Religion was a hangover from the cultural differences. Most of these people didn't even practice their faith. You can't believe that a deal seated minor decrepency in faith beliefs was at root of this?

What would you want them to do. For example the place in Manchester City centre today. They believe there may be other accomplices and another attack may be imminent. They find out where he was over the weekend. They either get there shit together quickly mob handed or formulate a plan on how to clear a city centre area of all residents workers and visitors.

I would imagine we have shared the images with the US (and others no doubt), to see if they have seen similar devices before, in the hope they might have an idea who made the device.

Its a worry that we can't trust them not to leak them to a newspaper.

Metrolink say Etihad and OT being used as additional park and ride parking for Metrolink (still no trains or trams through Vic).
