Yep, there are a few like Riot and you who are consistent, but if you read the 70 million for a LB thread and this one, you'd find a few interesting names that are incongruent when it comes to 'caring about the money."

I'm against absurdly paying for defenders. Something we've done way too much and to very little success. Outside of Otamendi and hopefully Stones there has been a negative correlation btw price and performance.

I'm just against buying defenders who can't defend properly whether they cost 50p or 50 million. IMO our problem is not that we spend too much money on defenders, it is that whoever is responsible for identifying our defensive talent can't possibly value the art of defending enough.

Well, there are 2carts to that problem. The way we play does not lend itself to making defenders look good. So sometimes in fairness, we are a harder tram to scout for when it comes to defense.

Everyone's happy.

Thinking about it, Mangala could do a job for us. Only problem is his ball playing skills. Pep loves his 11 midfielders so don't think he fancies him.

I think Saints have all the power in this one. VVD has 5ish years left on his contract, a few Clubs wanting to buy Saints not wanting to sell and don't need the money.

Would like him to stay for another season or two though!

Exactly you are right to demand all you wish for him. I think he's a really good defender but 60m is daft territory.

I just wonder where our defence would be now if we still had savic, or even nasty thought both looked decent savic made errors but he's at athletico now and doing well, we've talked about scouting, we've talked about 60m for vvd, yet imo either of those two would be top top cbs

Thanks but no thanks. It took me 2 years to get over Savic's performances at Klanfield and the Liberty Stadium.......(shudders)!
