Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Guessing the Aubameyang doubters don't watch Dortmund much, but here are the numbers: he's scored 85 in 128 games for them — 0.66 / game. He's incredibly quick, a clinical finisher, good in the air and links up very well with others.

Aguero - who also has an outstanding goalscoring record has scored 122 goals in 181 games (0.67 / game). Their records are almost identical but Aubameyang is younger. Only strikers who are definitely above him are Suarez and Lewandowski. I would put Aguero, Higuain and Costa in the same category.

And when I say he's a top 5 striker, I'm not including forwards and no. 9s like Messi, Ronaldo, Dybala and Muller.

If goals per game mean how good you are where do you rate Harry Kane and his 0.69 goals per game ratio?

Goals per game when rating a striker is of course important but not everything...so yeah Kane is for sure a top striker but not necessarily Aubameyang good

If it was Aubameyang at 24 with those goals hell yes (I'm sure he'd be worth more too). But he's the same age as Aguero. Aguero plays in a better league and the fact that he's been our poster boy for the past six years I can't comprehend having him share even more playing time. Plus doesn't he play for Gabon in the AfCon? By the way I'm not saying he's not a good player but personally I'd say in the typical 9 mould Aguero is in the top 3 in the world with Lewandowski and Sanchez.

I agree with you, I wasn't saying that Aubameyang is an upgrade on Aguero or even that we should sign him, I just took issue with the people criticizing him as though he's not a world-class striker.

I'm probably one of the only people on this thread who don't want us to sign either him or Sanchez as there is already intense competition for the attacking positions. Even though Sanchez is unquestionably world-class, it could upset the harmony of the team by making one of Aguero, Jesus, Sane, Bernardo Silva and Sterling drop to the bench to accommodate him.

a few years ago we were linked to Reus so i watched what type of player he was , i carried on watching when we were linked to gudun, and carried on as the lad utd bought Dembelle and Perisic caught the eye. during this time Auba was linked to us but he wanted only Barca or Real and city were not good enough for him,
well a couple of years later Barca and Real are not interested and Bayern do not want him, his team want rid as he is blocking youth.
on paper his stats look phenomenal 6 foot 2 fast as lightning and scores for fun, but the reality is very different for all his height he is crap in the air he is very fast but soft and his goal scoring is mainly tap ins as he has not got much of a shot on him, auba is a good player but us buying him would be the same as utd buying Di Maria

Wonder whether it was Sky literally just making up some bollocks because it was a quiet news day or whether someone in either the Aubameyang camp or the City camp have put out a bit of false info with an ulterior motive?

I'd say it was sky trying to drum up some betting on sky bet..at the same time they hinted at Aub..they gave good odds on him joining..I'm sure that's illegal..it's immoral at least

I think it's great to have so many attackers. With injuries and burnout last year a sustained assault on trophies was not possible. Throw in Sanchez into the above list and I'd be happy (ecstatic) B.Silva I think will be deployed as a Kev and Merlin position. Aubameyang for me just doesn't have the same ability to play other positions other than no.9! Great post my friend!
