Specifically,
Luiz - 50m
Mata - 37m
Lukaku - 30m.

All fringe players at the time, 2 years ago. We sell ours for 10-15m in today's market.

Again, I'm not moaning about our sales as much as arguing why I disagree with the statement/implication that main men at top clubs have the same ability to negotiate good fees for their clubs.

Pogba- given away and bought back for £90m.

Come on, a big club like City using the transfer mkt to accelerate development is going to pick up players which it then needs to sell and will incur a loss.

Precisely why I mentioned Chelsea and them being able to get ridiculous sums for their players who weren't world beaters, which you ignored to respond to.

Which players have Chelsea sold for ridiculous amounts?

Luiz fair enough, Mata was about right and Lukaku is now worth double that , on the other hand they did sell Oscar and Mikel on the China gravytrain that seems to have been halted now we are selling.

Luiz £50m
Oscar £60m
Mata £37m

Luiz wasn't sold for £50m - that was an FFP dodge tied up with the unholly alliance between Russia and Qatar re World Cup bids. It was a loan simply until the dust settled when Luiz was returned to Chelsea. PSG knew theyd fail FFP so they had nothing to lose and everything to gain if they got Luiz effecively on loan for a few years.

Mentioned some examples on the previous page

So you did but i still dont get the point you're trying to make here?

We have spent heavily and not really sold our best players but that has worked for us as seen by 2 league titles, 2 league cups and FA cup and consistently qualifying for the CL whilst off the pitch our business model has seen us become bigger than Chelsea.

What is it you want?

The point of this comparison between Spurs/Chelsea/City was to provide evidence to counter your claim that main men at top clubs don't differ in their ability to negotiate good fees for their respective clubs, which you mentioned when saying Levy isn't all that.

I didnt say levy wasnt all that.

I said he does a job like all chairmen do whilst the board seemingly wants to put him up there as the next messiah.

Has Cheeky ever had the opportunity to sell a player when it is not known we are wanting to get rid.

This plus the high wage we pay them makes getting a high fee very difficult

Levy this, levy that......
...
Talk of Levy as some mystical guru of the transfer world is fucking laughable and his stock rises by the page on here as more and more fall in line with the bluemoon narrative that he is the best in the business.

Bonkers talk, he is no different to any main man running a top club these days.

The context was about transfers. This was your post. I disagreed that they're same/similar.

Are City in the driving seat? Spurs don't need to sell. And they have a competent backup. And a promising youngster for that position. it makes no material difference to Levy if Walker stays or goes. He knows that City need a right back. He knows they need English players. That there are no good alternatives. And City have the money. Levy has a good hand.

I think we should expect a world record fee for a defender.

The Homegrown thing is the only thing holding us back.

Levy has a shit hand. Everyone knows Spurs are absolutely crippled with the stadium costs right now.

Levy can play hardball all he wants, but he needs cashflow and City will shell out in one lump sum, that's too good for him to scoff at. Selling Walker is probably 5% off their stadium bills.

We are not crippled by any means. We already pumped 240m into the project and have to pay off a 400m loan. Chuck in the NFL, naming rights to the stadium, concerts and the daft TV money it's not all that desperate at all. Last financial report it was over 30m profit and another season of champions league they'll be another 50m in there

I'm sure Walker will still be sold though but I'm sure you want him more than Spurs wanna sell

No doubt, it will be used as an excuse though, if anything doesn't go to plan. A le Arse.
