Kyle Walker

Very happy with this news....We got ourselves in a mess at the fullback position and it was always going to be difficult/expensive to find good replacements, in their prime but we stepped up and did what was needed. Dont care about the fee. Big upgrade over what we've had for a few years! Getting Mendy sorted and we got ourselves a team!;)

Spurs fan's can say what they like but they will feel like we would have done if Zabba would have signed for them at the same age.....gutted.
I, for one, will say that you have come to an incorrect assessment. Most fans of most teams will be sad to see a long-term player leave (9 years). But gutted we are not. Fair play to him. Let's not kid ourselves though he moved for money which is to be expected at his age. Spurs don't pay crazy wages like the other members of the top 6 because our revenue is at least 100 million less than the others. FFP is a thing you know and we are not bankrolled by an oligarch, sheik, or debt.

We are a well run club with more in common with the lower 14 clubs in the league than the other 5. But we are competitive within our means and will remain so. Kyle will be replaced by a player with more potential and for less than half the price. Not Trips as he is not as good as Walker. This will enable us to get 2 players in, cover the loss of Walker, and maintain a 0 net spend. However, I do believe there are many that would have preferred Spurs not 'strengthening' City. And that is where you will find the most consternation.

I'd pay £60m if I had to. Walker is the best in England comfortably and as people are very quick to point out, we don't have a single right back, ergo we don't have a single piece of leverage with the deal.

Would we rather Walker didn't sign but the moral high ground of '£50m is too much' being upheld make anyone feel better because it sure as hell wouldn't me?

The money is high but look at the market! Swansea rejected £40m for Sigurdsson, Everton paid £30m for a Championship keeper and Chelsea are about to pay £40m for a player who will miss preseason and won't be available until September as he had the fluid removed from his knees.

Get him in, get him integrated and fix one of two glaring problems with our squad with a great player.

Hallelujah! Moan if we don't buy moan if we do and fee is too high. The management team know what they are doing! Some on here will be surprised at Walker will bring to the team!

I honestly don't mind the fee I know it'll be banded about left and right till once again we've somehow ruined football again. Despite LukakuGate or indeed PogbaGate before it.
But here are the fact
We have no registered right back - everyone knows we desperately need one.
We need an already proven RB and a more potential having RB - Means buying from a PL club
We always need to bare in mind the PL Homegrown rules - English Premium
The TV deal is/will come into play soon - Everyone knows the PL has more money than others so if dealing with one the fee goes up dramatically
Levy is a **** - Self explainatory

All in all I'm not surprised or even angry about having to spend £50mil on walker but that's the market we live in, in fact I'm a bit surprised it's not more.
The only question that we could argue about is: is there a better available player that ticks all the boxes we need, but personally I doubt it.

I've heard that our main advantage (aside form the obvious) is that are deals are not being done on the never never. Rings true with Bernardo being bought for £40 million and Walker for £50 million, when compared to Everton possibly having £40 million for Sigurdsson turned down.

Anything over £40m is absolutely fucking ridiculous. For this kind of money you'd expect David Alaba in return. Walker is a decent player, but he isn't even in the bracket that the fee would have you believe. This is just as absurd a price as the Lukaku fee. For half this amount we could have bought in just as good a player from the continent. What's even more worrying is that the other clubs we're dealing with will now believe that they can dramatically increase their demands.

The club should have walked away from this deal a long time ago. It reeks of desperation.

Okay tell me who you would get who is premier proven?

You have an incredibly outdated view of him, as do a few others. His positioning under Pochettino has been fantastic and that will continue under Guardiola.

I love the idea some people seem to have that Pep Guardiola has signed a pace merchant with poor technique who can't defend and has no positional awareness. It's laughable.

Sorry, you can mock all you like, but i don't think he's a good as you do, defensively. Sneer away.
