Hard to wrap your head around the amount of money being mentioned for a fullback, but I'm sure the same was said when Trevor Francis went for a cool million+ back in the 70's.

Hopefully it's fully justified over the next few years.

All this stems from the poor planning of few years ago. Now we're desperate for full backs and every chairman knows it. 50 mill for a 27 year old who was back up at spurs says it all really. Hope he turns out to be a good signing.

I'm sure it's a lesson learned and they won't let it happen again

He wasn't back up for a start.

That's the problem with this forum, people are generally fucking clueless on what they post.

I'm not a huge Walker fan, but he's a considerable upgrade on what we had last season so that'll do for me. There's hardly an abundance of top class full backs out there who are available, and particularly not homegrown ones.

Not really bothered about the fee either tbh. It's not rocket science that transfer fees are going up exponentially in line with the TV deals. You only need look at the fees paid for Pickford, Keane, Lukaku, Sigurdsson etc. to see that the market rate has changed considerably this summer.

Catalan outlets confirming that Nelson Semedo has been signed by Barcelona: €35m + €5m in add-ons.

He is 20million Cheaper than Walker.

English & already established in the Premiership - I understand why City went this direction and had to overpay. Semedo is a great signing for us though, no question - he was my first choice since January but never seemed it was going to happen due to the obsession with Bellerin

Pretty much agree with all this.

I like some of Walkers game, but pep will get the best out of him whilst improving his overall effectiveness

As people have said he is an upgrade on last season.
My only reservation is that now he is in a blue shirt,he won't be getting away with pushing a striker in the box.

This thread is a tragic read. I was expecting people to be buzzed about it, we are finally signing a quality fullback who's been the best in his position, in this league for the last two years
