We wanted him when he was at Udinese, but he chose Barca. We wanted him when he was at Barca, but FFP stopped us making a serious bid so he went to Arsenal as it was the best offer on the table. The only other serious consideration came from Juventus who were in a period of recovery at that time, so Arsenal made perfect sense.we were interested, Cant remember how keen we were though tbh.

There's a few ways to look at the Sanchez 'statement' yesterday which are;
1. He's told Arsenal how much he wants to stay.
2. He's told Arsenal he wants to leave, so it's now up to them to reach an acceptable agreement with City.
3. If Arsenal refuse to sell him, he'll see out the final year of his contract & leave on a free next year.
Arsenal may take the view that they stand a better chance of reaching the CL next season with him rather than without him, so the £50 they'll lose in revenue will be made up by regaining a CL spot. There's also a view that if Arsenal have a good season, Sanchez may take the view that the team has sufficiently improved enough that he may want to stay after all.
I've learned over the years not to get too twisted regarding transfers. RVP, Hazard, Isco & Alves were all 'nailed on' at the time of the speculation, but none of them are here. Sanchez will happen if & when it happens.

It's about interpretation. Arsenal have said one thing, unconfirmed reports and confirmed reports have said another. To be honest, I'm not arsed either way, as I've learned to only get my hopes up when I see a potential new signing stood next to Txiki holding the shirt as 'nailed on' Alves proved last week.Unless I missed something in his statement, I think option 1 can be crossed out
For what it's worth, when I was in chile it snowed every day and night. Was some week that...
I presume Sanchez could hold Arsenal to ransom?
Sell me for £50m or I buy out my contract,which would be much less

I thought once you're in the final year of your contract it's allowed?I'm pretty sure that there's a rule that would prevent Sanchez buying out his contract, could be wrong though.
Can only see Aguero going if mbappe signs for usI wonder if the negative Salfordpaul mentioned yesterday would be that Aguero would be leaving if Sanchez came in. Did he say otherwise?
That would mean this transfer would go from "fucking get in" to "meh, just leave me alone to cry in a dark room".
I don't think Arsenal care if they lose £50m as they are likely not going to get a better player in to replace him in this window and with him they will almost certainly finish top 4 and potentially challenge for the league. That in itself is worth more than £50m.
I think it will cost us £60m-£70m to get Sanchez.

He'll never like it, but he will have to accept it. Or throw £50/60/70M out of the window. It's a financial no brainer. Plus, it's not necessarily his decision
