It seems reading the spanish papers that Neymar wants PSG to sign Sanchez as a condition of him signing.

He will be the star, Sanches the back up. Whereas at Barca he is definitely behind Messi and on the same plane as Suarez.

I don't have bein sports so no la liga for me. From what I've read they have two squads for when CL games are coming. A league squad and a CL squad. I was more referring to the point of them having WC players that are eventually deemed not good enough who struggle to get minutes and are easy to sell. Mbappe and Sanchez is crazy thinking but I wouldn't put it past us going all out for both.

Also look at the centre of defence every post I have seen has kompany with either stones or otamendi. And in dm a ageing toure not suited to the role or Dinho.

It's not a good idea to struggle picking the attacking players without pissing off a number of really good players but on the other hand kompany breaks down and stones is still learning and one of the full backs does a hamstring. If we sign Sanchez we might as well get rid of Sterling, if we somehow get mbappe we might as well sell Sergio which I don't want.

If we signed those two which seems a bit mad then the money for Sergio and Sterling gets us a shit hot defender and dm.

Agree with this.... I think the Sanchez signing will hinder a few in terms of development, however you're spot on with the neglect at the spine, yaya and dinho will be used sparingly for me this year, with a lot of hope that gundogan and vinny can remain fit.. it's been reported that renato Sanchez is up for sale tonight, I'd be balls deep for him and he'd walk here by all accounts... bit like Geoff (:

Good post hilts and I understand exactly the line of thinking you're taking. From what I can tell you're mindset is a conservative / balanced approach but Pep is going for full on all out attack. I couldn't agree with you more about Mendy pulling a hammy and toure and dinho as the DM. I'm also not comfortable with stones. I would counter with this..I've always thought this was a 5-7 year project so it was never going to be complete this window. I also think he's telling all these youngsters Sane, Bernardo, Jesus, mendy, and Mbappe that he's fully committed to the long term and that we're sorting the attack out this window for good. DM + CB will be next summer with a true LB as cover as well. We just can't finish it all this window. It's gotta be one more.

I think for Mbappe you just have to pass on the backup LB + a VVD type in that particular window and look at the long term and I'm positive that's what we're doing. Next summer is when we get the DM and probably that VVD type.

And yes, we will have an unhappy Raz (or sane )or Midfielder or whomever but tough titty said the kitty. So be it.

Our attacking options are ridiculously good, upgrades are good but decisions have to be made on numbers I feel you can't just keep stockpiling attacking midfielders. I haven't even thrown Foden into the mix yet

There is a limit, alot of starting 11 attack minded players with noses pushed out, is not a good start to the season. Signing mbappe would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons. I would sign Renato if we could. Young kid with a point to prove.

We have already suffered from this thinking though(see fullbacks) Jesus looks like he is going to be a worldly and Sergio is Sergio we don't need another striker at the gamble of vinny not missing games. Stones couldn't even get in the team for large parts.
