Kylian Mbappe

I'm still torn about signing him. Three reasons - Obscene amount of money, Great talent but half a season under his belt and frankly, do we REALLY need him? I think we have great attacking options and i'd genuinely like seeing Diaz and Foden more this season and I don't know if it'll happen if he joins us.

Reason i'm torn is, well, he's fucking amazing.

I would say yes aguero will need replacing one day and we need more than one top quality striker. Get him in and let Jesus and mbappe destroy the opposition for years to come

There's no way we'll pay 180m Euros!
Do you think we are far apart in terms of valuation. I remember the Mirror talking about £143m or 160m Euros a couple of days ago.

I don't know how anyone values the player. The benchmarks have gone. I would pay what Monaco want. The upsides are what comes with CL success for MCFC. I really don't think he'd flop. I'm sure that will reassure Khaldoon

Khaldoon values your opinion then?

Diaz and Foden would love to play alongside him. Window after window we buy handfuls of players. Might as well just go an get the best.

Someone has to negotiate. We've done well to get this far so I'm just going to sit back and see how it unfolds. It looks good at the moment

Do we really need him now, no. Do we really want him as a 21 year old when Aguero has gone, then definitely. Think ideally this has come a year early for us and for Madrid as well but neither want to be the one to miss the chance if it's now or never. That's why I'd like to see a deal done that keeps him at Monaco for another season.

Spanish tax laws certainly seem to make things very difficult indeed for Real but that is unimportant if City find Monaco's valuation simply too high, and stories the other night suggest we do. How much scope for negotiations is, therefore important. If Monaco value him at €180 million and won't budge it may come down Pep's valuation - and I think the board will back Pep. But if Pep won't pay then we'll look elsewhere.

I did actually ; )
Good. I wasn't expecting this Mbappe transfer to amount to much, but the odds seem to be getting better. Part of me thinks it will go on and on judging by the Mendy, and Lemar transfers, but they are champions and in the Champions League. They are going to want to rebuild their team, so I wouldn't have thought that they would want to prolong this too much. They need to decide one way or another what they are going to do so they can plan for the season

I think of the top teams within the PL era. Henry for Arsenal, drogba for Chelsea, Rooney for the rags, shearer for Blackburn, once those players left/declined their success dropped off and they struggled to replace them. This lad sets us up for the next 7 or 8 years as potentially the top attacking side in world football and offsets kuns eventual drop off / departure.

I'd love us to do it and sit back like lard ass and watch the fall out.

Be difficult to find a player at his level - if not impossible. There might not be another opportunity. It's not the only way to progress as a football club, but if the opportunity is there I hope we take it. Might not be as simple as that though. All I can see is the player and what he brings. I don't see the financial constraints which we are working under, and there must be some. We've obviously pushed the boat out a long way to get this far. No one could say spend the money City.

It would really shock City's rivals clubs to the core. But that's transitory. I think I'd enjoy the prospect of seeing him play, and seeing City play at a higher level even more

I've seen a lot of people thinking about Aguero and the knock on effect, but the whole squad would be buzzing if we could get him. The season is 60 plus games. Mbappe would give players like Silva, Kompany, Aguero the chance of playing and winning the titles they deserve in the peak of their careers. I'm sure they'll value that more than playing 30 games a season and finishing 2nd.

FFS, Diaz and Foden are 17, they probably still growing their pubic hairs. If you see them in cup game or two this season, you should be happy.

Agreed. Maybe a bit more than a couple of cup games though. They played best than some of our first teamers. Don't know why people complain about the amount of money though... It's not ours.

Both should go on loan to NAC or Girona and play competitive football every week, not rot in the reserves. Their perspectives aren't related to Mbappe in any respect.

Mbappe is a year and a half older than Foden, and 9 months older than Brahim. The reason we are now possibly looking at paying well over £100 for Mbappe is that 18 months ago while he was still growing his pubes Monaco were willing to give him a some game time and last season made him a core part of their team.
