Delph set for Stoke around 12m according to CBS sports radio here
Ah, good shout, forgot about Delph.

Txiki performing miracles so far with the outgoings, the acid test comes with the afore mentioned Bony, Nasri and Mangala. Get rid of them 3 on permanent deals and the guy can walk on water.

I agree, but not one we need to take if we dont have to

I don't think we are currently in a position to do so, but moving forwards we will eventually start to see some movement from the EDS to the first team.

Whether it happens now or in 2 years etc, it will always be a risk simply because they will be unproven.

At some point the risk will need to be taken.

How much have we brought in from sales this summer? Fernando looks to be the next one out the door.

Just having a quick look on Daz's balance sheet and I reckon we've brought in about £70m. Not bad. But if you then look at the incomings as amortized figures, assuming 5 year deals for all bar Mendy who was announced as 6, our spending this year is only about £45m, meaning £25m left X a 5 year deal is about £125m to break even. And since we were in profit, we don't need to break even and there's still a chance that Nasri, Delph, Mangala could be added to the sales figure.

Hmm

i'm not a Txiki basher by an stretch but i wouldn't consider it performing miracles, we're practically giving away most of them. The only players we're getting decent fees for are the ones that have never played for us. Delph is an England international and there's bang average championship players going for more than him.

If Bale becomes available you would have to assume we'd be interested?

Home grown left back cover, take delphs place in the squad...

LB cover lol.

He's not played LB for 6 years, and he wasn't much of one to begin with.

I love Bale but he'd be a staggeringly bad investment of £100m, his body is deserting him and there's no telling if he'd be fit for more than couple of months a season.

He's turned about £3m investment into £50m income from Mooy, Iheanacho and Unal, and secured buy backs on all 3.

Frankly, even £6m for Fernando, a 30 year old back up with 1 year remaining on his contract is decent business, if he can scrape together £13m for Delph, a player who's played 20 games in 2 years and most of them subs, he's doing a good job.
