Security

But 27 yrs ago we didn't have terrorists trying to kill innocent people. It's not that the club want it that way, it's because the club, showing their duty of care to their fans, having taken advice from the relevant authorities, are being sensible. IMHO

(& twice last season I didn't get in until 20 mins into the match & once even later but that's life in the modern world I'm afraid).

1996? Ok 21 years ago, but no we never had people blowing shit up im Manchester till recently.

Their is no argument over the need to be vigilant but the system is not in place to do this efficiently when we make major changes to the original stadium layout.

The present turnstiles were no built with an extra south atand tier in mind or blocking off the main stan concourse.

Improvw
e the stadium, but also improve the access at the same time.

The queues outside the ground made fantastic terrorist targets at the end of last season. If a terrorist was to stand between two queues and set of a nail bomb, 100+ people would get hit.

It fits in perfectly with the Club's vision of their ideal fan.
Get people parking in the official car park - £10 - it's all the Council's fault, sorry. There's always room and we can always make it bigger.
Get everyone out of the pubs and in early to buy food and drink - £10 a meal, £4 a pint. In the name of security, sorry.
After the match - no point dashing away to sit in the car for half an hour - go and spend your cash in the store or City Square.
If you don't like it, sod off, we'll get some day tripper who spends even more than you in your place. We don't need to change habits for new fans, we can create them. There's always more money to be made as long as we sell out every week.

Nailed it

You'd have thought City would have studied how other clubs, sometimes with many more fans, manage to do this quicker and safely. It's disappointing that they haven't found a suitable solution yet.
Haven't you noticed the mega-queues fifteen minutes before kick-off at every away game?
Thought not; neither have I. I'm sure our chief security clown has better things to do than check how other clubs can be so much more efficient.

Any analysis of recent threats would suggest to anyone with half a brain that the major threat is from an incident outside the stadium.

Why on earth would a terrorist stand patiently in a queue when they could blow themselves up in City Square or, as Blue Anorak says, just outside the turnstiles.,particularly at the end of a game? Perimeter security would be much better.
