well if we were truely in for mbapoe that neans that the budget must have allowed for at least spending another 100m easily....we aint getting him now by the looks of things so that money could be put to use by purchasing a much better centre halfHow was it clearly earmarked
so sanchez and evans are now are only 2 targets.
what i dont understand is that we had clearly earmarked 100m plus to go for mbappe...so if we aint going for him/have backed out due to excessive wage demands, why dont we put that money towards buying an actual decent cenrre half instead of scrapping the botton of the barrel for Evans?
it does mean thst we could use a portion of it to get someone better as opposed to getting a stip gap player with no re-sale value(thats what evans is) and then having to spend nore money in 12-18 months on a new centre half when yoy realise that you need simwine a hell of a whole lot better!Because we were willing to go to the absolute limit to get Mbappe now, that doesn't mean that we have 160 million or whatever to spend elsewhere.
We would have done it for that once in a generation chance, but it would have been a risk insofar as even with amortisation it would probably have limited our ability to spend in future years, or something along those lines.
Basically its like finding out there's an Aston for sale for £5000 down the road. You might throw your whole savings at it because its a once in a lifetime shot and even if the missus is pissed it would be worth it, but if you miss out on it you're not just going to spend that money on two polos and rover 75 just because you were thinking of spending the money anyway.
Not sure it works like that. It's not compulsory we spend all the budget.well if we were truely in for mbapoe that neans that the budget must have allowed for at least spending another 100m easily....we aint getting him now by the looks of things so that money could be put to use by purchasing a much better centre half

Curious as to why? gen question btwStop gap. I wouldn't have him as a door stop
i agree on the stop gap bit...we wouldnt even have to spend half of yhe mbappe money to get someone betterNot sure it works like that. It's not compulsory we spend all the budget.
As for Evans, he is likely a stop gap to someone we may have identified who isn't avail this window
Like who, and who would want to come?i agree on the stop gap bit...we wouldnt even have to spend half of yhe mbappe money to get someone better
Apart from the rag angle mate I just do not rate him, and at the money they are after, and his age, its just a big fat no for me.Curious as to why? gen question btw

dont know but i dont have a world wide scouting network at my fingertips nor 10 yrs in the game as a manager with the contacts you amass with that...if i did im sure i could find a centre hald better than Evans....he doesnt even suit the high line we play as he aint particularly mobile. i get he is good on the ball but he will be exposed in our system with no midfield cover in front of him....pep said in his last press cinferancd about the reason why he puts Kompany wider and has stones playing centrally...because that is where the one on ones happen....imagine evans vs premiership fowards one on one 30 -40 yds or more from our goal .he will get ripped to shreads on the break which is the way the vast majority of teams will.play against usLike who, and who would want to come?
Mate, I dont want him either, but I am convinced they have not simply thrown a dart at the board and it landed on himi

Exactly, and if our transfer staff took that approach, I'm sure Evans wouldn't have even been on that dart board to begin with. It seems apparent to me that he is the stop gap for a season or 2 to give Stones time to grow into his role and spare time for suitable CB targets to become available. I'm not that familiar with him, but if he's the anchor for a West Brom defense that doesn't concede all that much, he has to have some sort of quality at the back (although that may be a result of the system/strategy Pulis uses rather than Evans's quality). My only issue with going after him for the price quoted is the difficulty it will be to sell him for at least that price when we find no further need for him.Mate, I dont want him either, but I am convinced they have not simply thrown a dart at the board and it landed on him
Get what your saying mate. But if he signs, which neither of us want, and has a nightmare start will see if being an ex rag is irrelevant.I can accept the age and his ability, but being an ex rag is irrelevant and the money is currently hearsay. Do I want him, no but I would concede he may improve us
