It all depends what you wanted and expected.
If you wanted to know who the better boxer was then you got your answer.
If you want to know who the better fighter is then it's McGregor.
I train in Muay Thai and I'll tell you for an absolute fact that if 99% of boxers took a low kick to the thigh or a shin around the ribs it would instantly do them some serious damage.
That doesn't mean I don't respect and enjoy boxing, each have their own place but McGregor is a fighter

Looked like Mayweather had no respect for McGregors power, and McGregor was always going to gas. For all his talking his cardio has always been suspect. They both did well out of it but floyd did look old. I just hope McGregor has earned his money and will just disappear from combat sports. It was never going to be a tear up. McGregor for all his mouthing off is a bit more intelligent than that. It was interesting and went the way the form book expected. Mayweather is not a concussive boxer, not sure McGregor is either with the heavier gloves. If its a tear up you want have a peep at hagler v hearns . That's what it's at.
You just don't get fights like Hagler v Hearns anymore. That time period also contained legends, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran, which really was the golden era of that weight category.

Very true. Leg kicks are a game changer for those that use punches as their main attack, it takes away their base.
Personally think Conor did as well as expected. How do people think they'd do in their first paid boxing match?

Not sure McGregor deserves much credit apart from posturing to get the fight in the first place. Floyd has been well past his best for a few years and has been inactive for 2.
It was almost as if Mayweather played with him to give the audience a longer fight. A journey man pro would have beaten McGregor.
The world wanted to see the fight but I'm glad the experiment is over.
Have to agree with you there. Having just watched the fight MCGregor boxed ten rounds against probably one of the all time greats, albeit not in his prime with absolutely no guard. I really think he could have put McGregor's lights out earlier, had he wanted to. Had the whiff of that ridiculous American Wresling about it.

It wouldn't have been sanctioned for anything other than this circus. Mayweather didn't break sweat, McGregor didn't even look like a prospect.
Far play to him though, 100m USD for playing the punch bag.

Yes some truly memorable fights in that era. All legends of the game. I'd add John mugabi to that list also if only for his fight with Hagler(an absolute thriller).You just don't get fights like Hagler v Hearns anymore. This freak show should have been staged in Hollywood as these two are fuckin actors.
It was a 'friendly' ffs, a public sparing session, nothing more.

Feeling pretty good about my prediction of Mayweather just letting him punch him for a few rounds to make it last long enough to not look like the absolute farce it clearly was, followed by getting a stoppage as soon as he decided to actual try and punch him.
The real thing this highlights is what an absolutely sham boxing is these days. No way should the champions be able to decide who they fight, he's just beaten an amateur who's never had a single fight, while pro's who've fought there way up the ranks can't get a fight with a champion unless they just hand over all the money from the fight. Even then champions an just dodge anyone who they think might hurt them. Is there any other sport where you can chose who you play against and deliberately avoid your actual competition?

Two very different disciplines at work and so for the rematch we go with MMA and dance the dance.
Both champions of their own craft.

Mayweather wasn't a champion he was retired for 2 years and got called out by McGregor and knew the demand was there that people wanted to see it, can't blame him for thinking ok I'll box a guy who's never fought before and earn a few hundred million.
Don't like him particularly but he's a genius fighter who must have put in a huge amount of hard work in a very hard game for 20+ years and he's worked to the level where he can call the shots IMO

Its over thank fuck now back to normality. I think McGregor done well to last as long as 10 rounds. Would Maywheater last a round in MMA highly doubtful. Sure they go there separate ways with a wedge of cash each.
This fight will just make McGregor a bigger star. He will take over some of the boxing fans to his next MMA fight against whoever still think he will fight for another year or 2 and having the biggest figures in UFC history if they let him fight in Croke Park that would be a huge crowd and make UFC history. I just think fighting a Maywheater is daft for Connor to do but I wouldnt be shocked if Paulie Malainaggi was to go and look for a fight with him in boxing. Lets be honest hes a MMA fighter with good boxing skills. In boxing he is a novice with a punch on him.

He's not a boxer.
Would be the same if a boxer tried MMA, they aren't a mixed martial artist so will look bad.
If a boxer lasted 4 rounds in the UFC against an all time great though I'd give him credit.
