I do hope you're wrong Ric, but When I suggested to Robbiegunn, a few days back that Arsenal's board would drag out the deal until the last minute of the last day of the window, in order to have an excuse not to reinvesthe any of the fee, he reckoned that, if that happened, it would actually lead to serious violence on their terraces between pro & antì Wenger sections of the Arsenal fans

Neither set of circumstances would seem unreasonable , were it to happen.

Isn't it close to that irrespective - that new contract for Wenger was the Arsenal Board's cop-out surely .

If its true about Pep not wanting Sanchez to force the move to save face in the media / have good club relations. Why should we try impress the media / anyone, everyone hates us already not like they will praise us for not telling Sanchez to force anything. Even if we spent £1 we'd be shit talked by everyone.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Wenger falls on his own sword with this one , he looks to have had enough of football full stop , I see him sticking two fingers up in a back me or I'm off scenario.

If that's Arsenal's position then they're absolutely deluded, like a horror film when a character says 'everything's alright' right before the killer starts going mental.

He's not signing a new contract, if he stays, there'll be questions about him all season and come next summer he'll be jumping off the sinking ship right before it goes under.

Wengers lost the plot mate , he's digging his heels in the fool.

They're hardly going to come out and say that he's unhappy whilst they're negotiating a fee with us. This is just them trying to gain any leverage that they can.

Anyone really believe Sanchez will watch Ox force a move to a CL club and sit on his hands? If there hasn't been an official transfer request tonight, i'll be staggered if there isn't one by tomorrow night.

Can't see this one happening with only 3 days left of the window. He will be pushing 30 next summer and even on a free we should swerve it. I'd say he has 2 top level seasons performance wise left in him.

I agree. 70m on a player who is 30 next year is a bit much.

all well and good if he does but have we put another bid in surely we can not wait for him to do this first?

That is why I'm inclined to believe the "transfer request" rumours, despite the denials. I think Arsenal must have promised him that they'd listen to offers so long as he kept quiet, but with the transfer window closing it would make sense that he may have become impatient.
