Sure you know there has been proven contact between LFC and VVD.
Are you aware of any talks between him and City? What did he say about Pep or the club?

And please tell me you just didn't try to calculate City's next PL title considering 1 number.

We have offered so many clubs the loop hole of " loan move with obligation to buy" May be its something that we should look into as well if ffp is the issue. Psg just did the same with mbappe.

However i wont be too disappointed if he ends up at liverpool, afterall we cant address all our problems in just one window and cant sign all the top players that are out there. We have a good enough defense to win us the league.

I also feel one reason of our poor defense last season was the lack of goals we scored. Once we dont score in the first half we offer more space to opposing teams to exploit and loose our shape. If we do score early on we wont be commiting to many players in attack and our defensive record will automatically improve.

You are right 100% it's obvious & it's obvious we will be looking on enviously if/when he signs for someone else.

It's also an absolutely ludicrous idea that he would turn down the move if we really went after him.

I think this is a signing that along with Stones will equip you to give winning the CL a real go.

If you don't you will regret it as he shines at one of your rivals. If he doesn't want to go there us nothing you can do, but I'm not convinced that's true.

You are still vulnerable defensively, this boy will help sort that. I mean it's not as if you can't match Liverpool in financial clout.

The failure to fix your defence is becoming Arsenalesque.

And will have the same result. Him alongside Stones would be brilliant for you.

I hope he goes to you.

Strange that we consider 60 million for VVD too much but 30 for Evans fine particularly as VVD's contract will be at lest twice as long so will cost the same for FFP purposes.

I don't get it.

It is so clearly the case

You know it, everyone in football knows it, any fans of other clubs who.watch City know it, all the ex City players, managers etc etc know it. We have a huge potential hole in central defence.

Seems we are just going to wing it & hope we get around it with gaffa tape.

It's baffling. Dogs in the street know. Another year not addressing the problem with real class as VVD is, then look forward to going mental for another year.

If I was a supporter of any the top five teams in Engkand you would be the last team I would want him to go to.

That says it all.

If I was outside looking in, I'd see it as the probable reason City won't win the title & signing VVD as making it very likely City win it.

Not that it can't be overcome, but if City don't win it, that will most likely be why.

If City signed both Sanchez & VVD, I would fully expect a decent shot at the Champions League.

I get a feeling that not signing him will come back to haunt us.

Maybe, but fingers crossed hopefully not.

But we will be looking on like jealous ex lovers wherever he signs. I'm sure of it.

He would turn Liverpool into title contenders. Just find it baffling that Kompany is going to be on his way out in a few years, and van dijks near enough similar to him. If we made an approach for him then okay, but nobody can confirm if we did or didn't.

Wenger hasn't got the foresight but if I was him I would hold out for £60m for Sanchez and offer it Southampton immediately for VVD.
Then I would sell Ox and offer £40-50m for Mahrez.
Two new committed players and an upgrade in defence and creativity.
Was going to say the same last night. We must not be as bright as Wenger.

What I find odd is that by all reports we just do not value him at the price Southampton quoted. It is fair enough because the fee, like most, is far too high. However, the same people at the club see financial sense in selling Mangala and buying JFE for a higher price... that I find bizarre.

Pep values attack more than defence but he must know that in our league you do have to be able to defend to a decent standard. He has had good defensive partnerships at Barca and Bayern, with DM pivot players of an excellent quality too.

He has his full backs but other than Gundogan potentially playing pivot we do not have that defensive or dm partnership that has been key to most of his teams. An injury to Kompany and our attack will have to be 100 x more ruthless to overcome the issues.

He clearly wants out. Let's bid 60m with the view of going to 70m and let's get it done. It will be a bargain.
I am amazed we're not trying. Lot of money sure but we paid £50m for Walker so not so extreme and more potential than Evans.

I am amazed too.

Evans is 30 soon and VVD just turned 26 I believe.

Unbelievable we are even considering Evans when VVD is available. We know what to buy in every postion except CB for some reason.

As others have pointed out their is a good chance he goes to a rival which means we will have to play against him twice a year or more for many many seasons. This alone makes him worth the extra money that's being asked.

I really hope we are working on this in secret, otherwise it's going to be a real shame.

This is similar to Hazard, didn't want to pay his agent the extra money and now he's one of the best players in the league and plays for one of our main title rivals.

He spelled it out last season. He knows.

He has decided to gamble on Vinny imo, that's what has changed.

But it seems clear to me, Vinny is playing on his limit & is becoming a veteran. He has lost a yard of pace & any drop in form, not just injuries, will be significant. He can't be at 70%.

We wil need the other 3 to go up a level & attackers to score & when we dominate possession imo. Stones looks like he might do that but seen no improvement from Otamendi so far. Turned inside out by a Championship striker at Bournemouth.

Need him to stop that kind of bollocks & maybe JFE to organise.

Not the best position for a Champions League hopeful.
