I dont think they ever wanted to sell Sanchez
They took a battering at revitalised Liverpool, but losing Sanchez would have made their fans even angrier. Selling your best player isnt going to go down well.
Financially if they make champs league it will have made sense to keep Sanchez and I dont ever remember hearing him say he wanted out, he never put in a request to leave.
Of course they didn't want to sell him
Their fans can't be any angrier - didn't you see Claude this morning
They didn't make CL with him last year and every professional pundit who's discussed it so far reckons they're miles off this year and so do I.
I guess you don't believe any of the reports posted about him telling all the Chilean players he was off to City.
I think its rather obvious he must have conveyed his wishes to leave the club to Wenger after all they've been talking via text all summer!
But seriously you think he hasn't privately told the Club he wants to go notwithstanding no formal request?

I'm gonna say it - did we actually need Sanchez?

Really? Need?

I do not always ridicule and insult ... only to bellends.

I'm feeling a tad left out.

If we'd have started negotiations months ago, and who's to say we did'nt, its clear that arsenal were never going to sell without us giving them Sterling, Sergio, or sitting around on our arses for months on end while they desperately rooted through the
Wonderful thing hindsight GHT.
I just get pissed off with some posters who as I`ve stated are clueless, mainly because they have no concept as to how long transfers actually take. They can`t get their head around the idea that up to 10 people could be involved from the player, both reps from the clubs, the agent, financial advisers and Ida the tea lady.
With a transfer like this,I bet City have been discussing this with his financial advisers and his Agent for months and then its knowing when the right moment is to hopefully start negotiations with the other club.
How long has Wenger been saying "he`s not for sale" and yet yesterday afternoon they accepted our offer.
Its the easiest thing in the world to blame someone, but to blame someone who was not involved in these final days, well .... aaarrggghhhhhhhhhhhhh. It does my bloody head in.
Still I suppose its no good knocking when theres no fucker in.

They didnt want to sell him mate, especially to City.
I read an interview with Arsene (his actual words) where he financially justified keeping him giving them more chance of CL and cups
plus he never put in a transfer request, he will prefer to be a free agent when he will then make wads of cash.
Arsene will of course be trying to convince him to resign

Well the game ended 3-0 Paraguay won vs Chile. Sanchez did ok he wasn't really pulling trees. Bravo played as well.

Now that this has reached a highly unsatisfactory conclusion I think we can make a few observations of why this was doomed from start -

I do think City worked hard all summer on this move but how many times must they have asked and were simply given a "not happening" Hard to open talks when one side is not really looking to dance.

I think Wenger saw this window and the £££s and probably lost his mind. Arsenal hasn't spent big in some time and past windows would be considered sane against the ridiculous fees paid this window.

Arsenal as a club are in a very tricky position. Reputation far exceeds the current position of club. I don't think they can attract big names and desperately clung on to the one they still have. Alexis was desperate to leave club but they refused to sell knowing they could not attract the "next Alexis" with the team in its current state.

I think as City fans we all thought, "oh they have to take £70m this summer vs nothing in a year for a player who wants out and won't extend his deal." Arsenal saw it more as, "we won't be able to attract a player at Alexis' level"

One has to wonder what other targets Txiki was looking at other than Alexis. Mbappe was out as soon as money reached totally insane levels which was a few weeks back.

Every player who missed out on their deadline day transfer backs down and signs a new deal they have little choice unless he goes on strike or something drastic which I can't see considering he didn't hand in a transfer request.

The lack of transfer request is the key for me it means he was keeping door open to get back on with the gooners knowing Arsenal may screw him over.

Usually they dont put in a transfer request for financial reasons. His agent has already said he won't be signing a new contract "under any circumstances" and that was before Arsenal fucked him over

Plenty of players have seen out their contracts, we've had a few ourselves like Milner. No reason to think Sanchez will have a change of heart

I'm 99.9% sure he will. Save this :)

I think its more of a case he wants to leave Arsenal so the chances of him coming to us in the next window or next year I would suggest are slim.

This was our best chance and it wasn't to be.

I feel so bad for him. The pics I'm looking at from the Chile match, he looks devastated. Almost wanting to cry.

Sad, sad, sad. FU Arsenal.

Why though? If the rumours are correct, he only wanted City. If we want him in January or in the summer, why would it be different ?

I actually think there's more chance of City cooling their interest than of Sanchez cooling his interest in coming

Rather we cool our interest then. Go for Lemar next summer and if Sanchez on a free is resolute in joining then we get him too.
