City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Decent bloke on SSN news saying that the FFP is only there to keep the European Elite at the top

You're actually missing the point. La Liga claims that our revenue "benefits from sponsorships that make no economic sense and lack any fair value." IT is not our spending which is attacked, but our income, which is supposed to be the resiult of "doping".

Thanks I understand now, it usually takes a while. Still, i think the whole thing stinks!! Have Real not been state funded for their whole f###in existence?

Basically saying City are in no danger of financial ruin & FFP may have some good intentions about club bankruptcy but it needs re-thinking because it merely protects the elite status quo & hinders competition from other non-elite clubs.
Barca & Real amongst others are deffo threatened by the Neymar deal as it threatens them having free reign to sign the best players.

Exactly!... what we make in the Etihad deal is actually lower overall than what clubs like Chelsea and United get by splitting it up(they even have separate sponsors for training kits and training grounds)... forgetting overseas "supporters" tallies they like to dish out, we are now one of the most watched teams in the most watched league in the world... but "no fair value"? sure. We'd easily get more if we wanted, it's all sour grapes, we've made it to the top table whether they want to admit it or not.

I don't believe the part inbold for a moment. He's a (or will be a) French tax resident. It doesn't matter where the money is 'earned' be it Paris or Doha, he is still (or will be) taxed as a French tax resident and will taxed be on worldwide earnings whilst residing in France.
Which is why I wanted to find the original article!

Is taxation different for different tax treaties ?

For instance Spain and UK depends entirely on days residing in any particular Tax Year in that country. Also nothing to do with citizenship.
Over half days living in say Spain then Spanish tax rules apply irrespective of where earned.

90 days gets you UK tax status. Not half a year fwiw.

Seems the skewed rules of FFP were simply not skewed enough to prevent the determination of our ADUG team to escalate the investment phase.
Mr Wenger is right it is no good now because we demonstrate the power of proper investment of football generated profits.

Pointless having a cartel of a barrier to entry if it is ineffective. Time will allow the intruder the chance to demonstrate why they needed to prevent the newcomer from showing how football companies should be run.

UEFA is a law unto itself and any investigation isn't likely to prove fruitful when based on figures alone. Investigations are likely to centre upon how transfers are financed rather than the actual sums involved meaning who is funding a club, how a club is being financed, and why. In short, UEFA and It's leadership do not like mega-rich owners using state finance to skew competitions 'unfairly'. The argument will be that oil rich Arabs are using their influence to conscript businesses domiciled in their nations - Etihad being one - to become major sponsors of their clubs. This move in itself could fail as there are arguments to suggest that City's Etihad contract is actually below market value. That has been mentioned by a few knowledgeable souls on FFP threads before, I think PB may be one who has mentioned it at some stage. Perhaps we should get a perspective from politicians as to how to work a system whether we like it or not. Every year the Royal family visit countries throughout the world for handshakes and banquets, and shortly afterwards politicians head to those countries to negotiate trade deals and partnerships. Is there any moral difference in Sheikh Mansour doing precisely what the Queen does? To my mind, there is no difference at all.
