Alexis Sanchez

I really do hope we are not going to go back for Alexis. I watched all of last night's game and Alexis worked like a lion chasing everything, but he couldn't hurt Cologne with his dribbling it was just all out effort and mostly passing. He scored a wonder goal, because he's got fantastic technique but his pace has gone. He's going to be a midfielder for Arsenal. I think he'll have a decent season, but his career is coming to an end, and he's not a player that a potential title winning side should buy.

If you just see the clip of the goal, you'll think wonderful player. And of course he has wonderful technique, but if you watch the whole game you'll see him desperately trying to make an impression and struggling to do it. I admire him, but that doesn't mean we should buy him
Or could it be hes not in a good physical condition because of lack of game time?

He is 28 in his prime ! His career isn't ending. Last year he had 24 goals and 10 assists in the premier league, which I think is the highest total of anyone. He wasn't even played as a striker in more than 50-60% of the games as far as I remember. You don't lose pace or dribbling in 4 months !

It really seems like it's just a matter of time before he joins us. And even Madrid might not be able to change that. It just shows how much pulling power we have.

Who wouldn't want to play with likes of Jesus, KDB, Bernardo, Silva etc....?

At the same time, watching us these first few weeks. Makes me wonder where Sanchez would have played against Liverpool and Feyenoord, had we got him on deadline day? It's not like we have been lacking in attacking options.

Wrote similar about Messi, bollock then, same now.

I think Sanchez has got probably 3 good seasons in him before he declines , given the type of player he is, and now we've missed one of those peak years.

Signing him next summer would be a very short term measure but it'd be a 4 year deal probably.

Alexis hat trick against Chelsea incoming.

I appreciate that Arsenal don't perform well in general in these big away games, but it's time Alexis did as well, hes not exactly dragging us to better performances. Ozil gets all the headlines but did Alexis play well vs Chelsea (3-1, Giroud), Utd (1-1, Giroud ), Liverpool (3-1, Welbeck), Spurs (2-0) and City (2-1, Walcott ) away from home last season?

But yet you're desperate to keep him?

Of course we want to, doesn't mean he perfect or without fault. I actually agree with Marv to a certain extent, I thought he was very average the other night, & I've witnessed those sort or performances a lot from him so it's not a recent thing. What makes him the player he is for us is that even during an average performance he can pull out a game defining moment like he did on Thursday.

However, my point still stands. Don't get me wrong, the whole team (& management) is culpable in these big away games, but he's not exactly setting the heather on fire himself in them.

There run by a board that is very proud to boast that they haven't put a penny of their own money into the club in 33 years. Now if you didn't have the most expensive season tickets in the league, then regardless of the lack of a league title, I'd say fair do's. The problem is you do and your board are actually earning a good wedge of Arsenal. Well run club? With a board like that, I'd say yes.

To be fair, your previous post came across like he was to blame for your away day ills, so thanks for the clarification. HOWEVER, if I were the suspicious type, it rather soumds like you're trying to put us off him!! :-)

Do you think Sanchez could add something to our squad?

Sorry, I didn't mean it to come across that way. He's not a perfect player, he is frustrating at times, but at present he's our difference maker and that's why he's so important to us.

I do think he can add something to your squad, perhaps in the games where a bit of magic is needed. I don't think he'll have as big an impact for you guys than he does for us, for the simple reason that you don't need him to, you have several match winners already and we are at times over reliant on him, but I think he'll compliment and increase quality of what you already have.

Don't think we need him! Not kneejerk but he's had the chance to come here twice now and not taken it, we should be looking at someone 10 years younger that is the next Alexis.
I've just been thinking about this. I was all for it in the Summer window but if we continue to perform at or near this level I wouldn't do it. Squad harmony is a fine balancing act and if it ain't broke...

I'm sure he would add something but not enough to risk upsetting the apple cart.

So you blame Sanchez for the Arsenal fuck up in the transfer window , unbelievable.
