A thread made mostly from the boredom of no football tonight.

So we're getting towards the period where things got a bit tricky last season, granted we probably had a tougher schedule last season but it's this period that's causing quite a few of us to not get too carried away.

I think us, Chelsea and Arsenal have it easiest & United, Spurs and Liverpool have it harder (Fixtures below). (Not sure if the dates have quite yet been sorted for the late October games due to TV but schedules remain the same)

Bar the Chelsea game I think we've got a pretty favourable run (touch wood) and even that game is on the back of them playing Atletico away. Got to be aiming to win our home games with Burnley being the trickiest given what they've done to Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool. Most of us would probably be disappointed if we don't beat West Brom away, although away games can be tricky (don't seem to be under Pep!) and hopefully get at least a point at Chelsea. At worst 10 points, what most would expect 12, very happy with 13+.

Also look at the amount travelling our rivals have to do this month, that feels like something we have to take advantage of.

I'd expect us and Chelsea to occupy the top 2 spots after this period or possibly us and United, with them fending Chelsea off just.

So where do we expect to be?

I'm roughly expecting something like this:
1. City 25 (12 in next 5) Airing on the side on caution, Chelsea game could go either way.
2. United 23 (10 in next 5)
3. Chelsea 23 (13 in next 5)
4. Arsenal 20 (13 in next 5)
5. Spurs 19 (11 in next 5)
6. Liverpool 18 (10 in next 5)

Like I say, don't want to get too carried away!

Arsenal have an easy league run so they might surprise

Didn't we fall apart when vinny got injured last year?,we are not really reliant on any 1 player this year so we should maintain our good form

Points wise no idea

13 points would be nice. Would mean 26 from 10. With 84 points still to play for.

Rags - 9 (22)

Dippers - 7 (14)

Chelsea - 13 (22/23)

Arse - 11 (18)

I think we'll bag 13 points, drawing at the Bridge. Chelsea with 8, 11 for United, 8 from Spurs and Liverpool, 13 by Arsenal.

I tell you what, i'd be happy 13 points. That would be roughly in line with the form we showed in Mancini's title winning season.

Think the Chelsea game could go either way though.

Yep Chelsea game will be close but Sideshow Bob is suspended so that will help us.

Vinny was injured from the start last season, made it back briefly for Swansea and then out again.
Don't think there was one particular cause of our fall in form maybe teams got to read us better after a few games and learn our weaknesses. (Claudio didn't help either)

I've supported City long enough to expect we'll be absolutely shit against a dire Palace team, giving Hodgson his first win of the season, struggle to beat a Shakhtar parked bus, then play brilliantly and bravely at Chelsea only to be fucked over late on by the referee.

But we'll still win the league.

Thanks i must be thinking of the season before,i think we had the new manager bounce then tailed off last year ,this year feels different to me

City 13
Utd 13
Arse 13
Chelski 11
Spuds 10
Liverpool 9

I nearly put 15 for City - but seriously what was I thinking. City always manage to mess up at some point.

I'm really looking forward to the Chelsea game, it's the first "real" test, especially on their patch.

I'm confident we will batter them and give them a footballing lesson, can't wait.

I don't understand that. Liverpool was the first test - they are a team that is likely to make the last 16 of the champions league. Chelsea are the champions. That is the biggest test we are likely to face all season.

One game at a time for me,looking to far ahead and trying to predict scorelines or results is not guaranteed, who honestly would have expected Liverpool to draw at home or Spurs for that matter,I was hoping palace got a result on Saturday and scored as anybody who thinks next week is a forgone conclusion needs to remember typical city ...

15 from 15. If this is Pep's year like we think it is the only challenge is Chelsea in this stretch. And I think we win that game handily as a statement of intent.

Dunno if I misread or understand your post.....IMO,I'd expect us to give any team a tough time at our place,Chelsea away will be the first test IMO.
