found funny how fletcher summed up our league position as we returned top spot with united rather than overtaken them to top spot

Can someone tweet this back to the Mirror

And lets not forget mr mersons comments...

Why don't the media adore pep like they did before he got here? it's a mystery to me

That is an interesting question, had got so used to all the slagging off of Pep that I had forgotten how he was seen as the greatest manager in the game before he rocked up at City.

The easy answer is anti-City bias, but I suspect that it is more to do with

a) most ex-players, pundits and sports reporters having very little tactical or positional knowledge or awareness or technical football expertise. They feel threatened and want to see him fail as that is a lot easier narrative for them than having to try to understand or explain what is quite a technical and scientific part of the game that has been neglected in the UK for ever, and

b) it means having to accept that the English Premier League is not 'special' or 'diiferent' to the game elsewhere. England may not have achieved anything in World football for decades (maybe due to point above??) and English clubs have not achieved much in the Champions League in recent years, at least when compared to the money in Prem and other leagues, but rather than admit lack of expertise that is justified by the Prem being 'more intense, more competitive, more difficult' than other leagues.

It's bias... the media would not be anti Pep if he was at Rags/Dippers or Arse

^^^ Eebo this is a very good post and I think nails the "pundit" issue perfectly. Surely some element of playing to larger fanbases of the rivals enters in, but I'd be down for your points being more apt.

Had Talksport on earlier just to listen to a bit of post game reaction. Next to fuck all coverage. More on United and Roy Hodgson. Quite a lot of day tripping Rags phoning in from Bristol to talk about the Palace game. BT Sport were a joke as well. Hardly any analysis on what Pep did to tactically batter Conte. Plenty of clichy heavy comments from Stevie G on how 'they needed to get in our faces'. Pig sick of paying a fortune to listen to shite punditry from ex pro's with next to no proper analysis. It's like everything Pep does goes over their heads.

They are absolute ****s, slippy G was brought up with the big/sky 4 as were most of these other ex player pundits. It's engrained in them, it's the natural order so expect it to get worse before it gets better. They can't stand the fact we got the money, Pep, world class facilities, world class players, a humble fan base and are playing the best football the prem has seen

The moment they realised the rumours they didn't want to be true were actually about to become real. Remember all the pages devoted to how he would change each of their beloved big 4 clubs and all the effort they put in before he popped up where he was always going to anyway, imagine their hearts sinking

That is bollocks. Blue phantom does not need my support but the problem is posters who view things differently get pigeonholed and there beliefs are fitted into one small narrative.

Like many he has slagged off people in the media about their reporting on us but those comments get brushed over to suit the narrative or rag/wum etc. Ironically the actual essence of an agenda.

I see what you did there ;)

Fucking hell lads (and lasses), just enjoy how well we're playing at the moment! Most of the media are eulogising about our performance. Seems an odd mindset to be picking out minor gripes tonight!

We have to keep fighting the good fight, Ric. :-)

Time to go and look at the press before I go to bed.
Chelsea were "tired" will be my guess watching MOTD and Conte's post game comment,
Sorry Conte but we played your boys off the park and you were lucky to get 0.
I wonder if it will start to click that City's defence is actually quiet good?

12.40am.

MUEN online.

City have beaten Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. In-fact, not only did City beat Chelsea, but City played them off the park.

And how doe's our local Rag MUEN paper report this, this is how.

Remember the time above. And the final comment. Top of 4th screen grab.

So the MUEN can't be arsed to file a match report on their main online page about City beating Chelsea 5 hours after the match is over. And they use an old stock picture of Pep scratching his head. F*** off!

Come on Frank. Come on Oakie. Dig the MUEN out of this one. Lol!

What is bollocks is anyone believing Man City do not receive negative press in the media. Full stop.
