Apparently he had muzzle breaks/flash hiders on the guns which obviously reduced the muzzle flash to almost nothing then take in to account the distance he was from the people.

There might be an argument that the widespread ownership of guns acts as a deterrent for burglars in the first place, but the statistics don't seem to back this up, with only 2 European countries having a higher rate of burglaries that the USA.

Just like violent crime, burglaries are concentrated in particular urban regions and no where near as wide spread as the UK. I leave the keys in my truck when I go to the grocery store, engine running in the winter. The back door of my nouse is always unlocked in case someone needs to stop by and drop something off. Burglary is almost unheard of, you'd be nuts to dare go inside somebodies home uninvited. Before my parents moved over here about ten years ago, they'd have to lock the front door of their house if they were in the back garden, they still can't quite come to terms with how safe everything is over here. Burglary is also taken very seriously by the courts with very serious prison time for acts in England that would result in a slap on the wrist

It seems well weighted down, probably due to the wind blowing through the window. I mean it looks like a suicide note to me so surely that has some info on it as to why he did what he did.

I didn't insult you at all. To act like you weren't bring difficult with your first statement to me is disingenuous. I was not though trying to be ultra virtuous but a real discussion not bomh throwing was taking place.

To be frank your writing was long and without paragraph breaks hard to read. You aren't aware of how most States regulate (or not) gun sales. I don't need a reason, such as home defence, to state when purchasing a gun. One shows up, fills out the background check paperwork. If you pass, you pay and walk away with it.

Let's not waste each other's time. You want to be involved. Great. Be involved with the others.

People who burgle dwellings in the UK are treated seriously by the courts and there is a minimum sentence of three years for anyone who has done it twice previously. Unless you consider that a slap on the wrist, of course.
 
It's pointless arguing with people that think it's perfectly reasonable for mentally ill people to legally buy the tools they need to go on a killing spree. As they say "guns don't kill people, mentally ill people with semi automatic rifles and a 1000 rounds do"

Watched a police show a couple of weeks ago
A known burglar who had many convictions was caught ( arrested at his home )
He got a £400 fine and that was all

Hmm, first the tone excuse for avoiding addressing an argument, now paragraphing. Your attempts to avoid the point while still coming out sounding like you have a reasonable excuse for doing so are so transparent. Why not just say if you can't back up your views? You've responded to me three times now, and in none of those responses have you been able to mount a defence for gun ownership as a way of defending one's home. And you did insult me. Unless you're now going to try and be disingenuous and say that "being a jerk" isn't an attempt to insult people.

If he'd committed two previous dwelling house burglaries after 2000, then the minimum sentence (subject to a one third adjustment for an early guilty plea) is three years imprisonment, unless it is unjust to do so (very rarely applied). A fine simply does not add up, to me at least. A lesser (or suspended) sentence might in certain, limited circumstances be imposed, but not a fine. Fining a smack-head is a complete waste of time.

When I was s lad a family moved into the area and shortly after that house breaking began. I come from a great but tough neighbourhood, good people, but, when one of them was caught and fled a house the response of the area was swift and brutal.

These crimes against people in the area were not tolerated.

The family moved after two of them left hospital. The cops, when they found out what they were doing, were let's say, less than vigorous in trying to find out who set about them.

Fines? Fuck that.

Can't say I was aware of 'an epidemic' of glassing people and to be brutally honest someone stocking his hotel room with pint glasses and lobbing them out of the window at people below is not exactly comparable is it?

I get its a different culture but I struggle to understand why Americans tolerate this madness. Given after Sandy Hook where children were gunned down I accept that the US will do nothing about the problem (and indeed in some quarters seek to excuse it) I just found the statistic I quoted of 3% of American adults accounting for 50% of the guns in the US utterly bizarre.

Anyway I am ducking out of this one. If Americans are willing to tolerate the problem of mass shootings or shootings in general then that is their choice to make.

My Mrs showed me this last night and the lyrics to Nellie the elephant which has similar lines.
The RW song was taken from his album Escapology, which was his first album released after he signed his whopping £80m deal with EMI. The album was written and recorded in LA.
