We can afford to rest Fern and Vinnie; otherwise start with our strongest eleven. That’s the most balanced approach towards seeking six points from the next two games.

Instructing people not to get yellows would be futile. Even if they trod on eggshells, an unlucky or unjustified booking is hardly out of the question.

I think folk are forgetting about Vinny and whether he is up for another hard game this week. Regardless of the bookings situation it might be wise to rest him, Remember the season does not end Dec 10 whatever the result we have 2 games and a cup tie before the Christmas programme even begins. I would tend not to leave Ferno on the bench but may keep Sane in reserve. We need to start this game on the front foot and try to get a goal up early doors. If there is going to be another late late show lets keep it for the swamp,

For months most (me included) are saying we are far better than the rags which we are, so why should we be fearful if we dont have e.g. Sane?

Otamendi's next ban (2 games) will come after 10 yellows for the season so at least 4 or 5 games away! Vinny, Sane and Dinho are all one yellow from a ban.

Thanks mate don’t know why I thought I’d heard that you get a two match ban if you get seven bookings before Jan hence why I thought Nico was very vulnerable.

You might not rate Mangala but there's no need to just make up stuff like he's liable to get himself sent off within 10 minutes. There's no evidence he'd do that and in fact it's Kompany who is picking up bookings for fun and came close to getting sent off in the first 10 mins of a game literally three weeks ago.

with our squad depth keep vinny and fern warm at home sane on the bench we are always better when merlin plays the whole game so I don't think were taking a big risk resting them.fern needs a rest anyhow

The line up will tell us a lot about Peps mentality which fasinates me, I think after years of typical city most of us have a frame of mind where we would rest Sane, Kompany and Ferny due to the 4 yellows. I suspect Pep thinks differently.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Myself, i am coming around to the idea of resting Kompany but playing Ferny and Sane. Maybe take them off if we get a couple of goals up.

I'd love to see Foden get some game time today but have a feeling Yaya will be in from the start.

Apart from the bit where I said the Leicester game was literally two weeks ago, when it was actually three weeks ago. Made a bit of a tit of myself on that front.

I don’t think Vinny can do 3 games in a week. I’d play Mangala today, or even Tosin, switch Fern and play either Yaya or Danilo in that role. Start Sané and go for it early. Hopefully we’ll go in comfortable, at least 2 up at HT and then sub Sané and Kev. We need to use the squad, not because we’re playing united next week, but because we have a very capable squad.

If we had a player with an above 50% chance of getting injured against West Ham then no, playing them wouldn’t be a good idea.

If we can’t use the squad to replace two players and beat West Ham at home then a) what’s the point of having a squad and b) what do you think would happen next week without them?

We’ve got more than enough to win both by thinking ahead and utilising our squad.

Serious question for you and others. How capable is our squad i.e. could we go to the swamp playing squad players and expect to win or is it not as deep as that?

Dont disagree with any of that but would add we should definitely going to the swamp 8 points ahead and Pep has to pick a team today to ensure that

So not only are we starting with Ya Ya, you want to play Tosin in the same side.
There are no easy games in the Prem, if you start messing around with the formation of the side as you are suggesting we could easily lose, but hey key players would be rested for the derby, so that's ok.
