Alexis Sanchez

Anyone who is as bit concerned about Sergio's form and Gabby's injury (albeit only 4-6 weeks, hopefully) can surely see the wisdom in making the Sanchez thing happen now. Who cares if it costs £30 mill. It's not our money, is it?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma over this as I think we can benefit from his signing , and hope it gets done in this window. One concern is the fee it will take, although I'm not sure whether that really matters to the club.

However, because I think Wenger and the Arsenal board have shown themselves to be such a bunch of stubborn and clueless twats, the idea of picking him up at the end of the season for free really appeals.

Either way I will be happy I guess.

£20m + £10m if we win Champions League ?
Hmmmm, we already have liabilities from the KDB and Sterling transfers if we win it, presumably from the Mendy, Walker, Sané and Bernardo deals, could cost us overall to win it in that scenario :)

They need a replacement though. I think that more than fee is going to be the stumbling block. I just have a feeling that they've had the old sit down, clear the air with the rest of the squad to say he'll stay until the end of the season.
They won't get the best out of him if they block this.

City should be saying

"£25M now
Next week £20m
Week after £15m
Last week of Jan £10m"

Anyone who says we're short of players up front needs to give their heads a wobble

Name them. Name all the ones that can currently play and are considered first team quality. and if it's any less than two per position you have to apologise.

Ideally we'd have already agreed a fee with him moving tomorrow. That'll give him extra incentive to put in a performance against Chelsea.

I for one are quite pessimistic; dont think the arses havent even answered any calls from Txiki let alone discussed Sanchez exit. Shambles of a club.

We are excellent with him and we will be excellent without him.

The way we set up you can play any three up top of Sterling, Sane, Bernardo, KDB and David Silva, plus of course there is Diaz who should be given far more playing time
We don't have to play with a definite number nine. All these players are interchangeable during the course of the game and it's what gives us such an advantage

Okay, so you want us to play every single game using only those 5/6 players for 4 positions? Unsustainable + David is coming in and out of the squad at the moment so that makes it 4/5 players we can 100% rely on right now, Jesus is Injured and (maybe it's just me) the drop off when we play Gundog or Bernardo on the wings the drop off in speed of attack is Palpable and needs addressing. I would and will argue we need attacking reinforcements

Team 15 points clear signs one of the best players in the Premier League.

Best time to improve is when you are at the top and that for us is now.

To do that we have to accept the bid has to be worth it for Arsenal, £25-30 million plus £5 - £10 million of add on's probably based on winning league and CL over his contract, plus Sanchez's individual performance (appearences, goals etc).

I would also be trying to get this done ASAP even if it is just the deal agreed, with letting Arsenal have x amount of time in order to get a replacement in and none of this deadline day issue.

Truth of the matter a Champions League semi final when we need a goal, having Sanchez in our squad is a major plus (him not being cup tied for that competition is why a deal will happen for me.)

Never forget Jonny Fucking Evans will cost £30 million.

It's not even remotely a bargain when you can get him for free in 6 months - you can't simply forget the contract situation in this instance. The club won't buy him for £35m on this basis - I could see us potentially stretching to £20m, given Jesus' injury, but not a lot over that. Even then, Gabi may be back in a month anyway.

I'd love us to sign him now, but I just cannot see the club agreeing a deal anywhere near some of the numbers being discussed on this thread.

His contract situation has no effect on the ability of the player. Therefore, at £35m, he is a bargain. Especially in todays market.

And the value to Arsenal of qualifying for the CL is probably worth in the region of £30M more in prize money than being in the Europa League

With Sanchez in the squad there is no guarantee of qualification for the CL, but selling him now for £25m plus the saving in wages will equate to £30m

We all know how motivated their board is by money, so really they should be pushing him out of the door and identifying summer targets

On the other hand, Arsenal can keep him to the summer, let him go on a free and then put the cost of tickets up by £20 a match and recoup the money the real Arsenal way

Arsenal are absolutely fucked if they sell him to us this month.

If they miss out on the CL - which they probably will with Sanchez but definitely will without him - then lose Ozil in the summer, I don't see how they can get back in the top 4 for a long, long time . They don't have the team to compete and they don't have the money to close the £75-100m/year CL revenue gap once it opens up.

I hope we get him, but I can only see it happening of Sanchez starts acting out very badly and Wenger just loses his patience and makes a bad decision.

They'd probably be better off selling both now and reinvesting the cash in the likes of Lemar, Draxler. Hard to replace with the same quality but they may replace them with more effective players for their top four battle.

Dont think any in their right state mind would want to join Arsenal, truth be told. Lemar is rumoured to Pudlians as well..

Draxler is their only hope IMO because he's mostly just coming off the bench for PSG and that might not be enough for a world cup spot with Germany's depth, plus PSG need to raise 100m+ before Mbappé's official transfer next summer.

I think he'd be one of the last assets they'd want to sell though.

Lemar to replace coutinho by the sounds of it.
