Burnley (3rd rd FA Cup) Post Match thread

Gundogan needs game time to find is form and i don't think this season it will happen for him with this squad unless of injury. so lets hold fire on Gundogan he is a great player and can be long term player for city and he will find his role just a pity the long term injury he picked up was at the wrong time and pep could not wait and new signings and the setup pep is using this season means no double hold role in midfield unless we have to change from wing backs to wingers

so hold fire on Gundogan yes he is not that box to box power player of old and may never be under pep with the setup but world class players can adapt to new roles
Fernandinho's apprentice perhaps.

I just think you are up for an argument - lets leave it there

He always is. Best bet.

Thought Burnley did well. We couldn’t get much possession first half. Thought there number 17 played well and gave our left back problems. Still not sure on gundogan but give him time. Leyroy was good.

Should bravo have saved the goal?

Great day.

He has a responsibility to the club and Burnley fans to do his best for Burnley, not the crowd. It is anti-football, but they are playing the best footballers in europe. It's not exhibition football, it's an FA Cup tie. If they are still playing this football in 2 years time, then I think you can criticise them more.

To their credit they did press us in the first half which few teams have done, which caused a few concerns for the defence.

We weren't at our scintillating best 1st half but neither were we that bad.
Second half we upped our game and they couldn't live with us.
Burnley like it or not play to their strengths, defend like fuck when needed and try to attack when they can.
It's not pretty or entertaining but it is fairly effective against most teams.
But we aren't like most teams and we have a will to win and the ability to create plenty of chances and players that never give up.
Nice to see Kun score again and Gundo had a good game.
Burnley fans are a strange bunch though, they hate Sterling with a vengeance although I doubt if they could explain why.
SS1 were pissing themselves laughing at the Grue lookalike who looked like he was ready to implode..

Great cop out.

I ruin your ‘winning ugly’ arguement so you say ‘let’s leave it there’.

Burnley can play whatever shite football they want and have the odd season of finishing top ten. That’s great. It’s still shite football whichever way you spin it.

its bizarre. I actually don't even think Burnley play a bad brand of football either, the likes of Cork, Defour, Hendricks all decent to watch, they even beat Chelsea ffs. 'Anti-football' fuck off lol

And good to see Ben Mee doing so well, seemed a decent lad when he was at city.

Just seen the highlights, and a few points from me:

1. On the Matchday thread Bravo got dog's abuse for 'flapping' at a corner. Fucking utter bullshit. No keeper would have got anywhere near it, and he was being held by one of their players. Some fans refuse to give certain players anything but abuse.
2. He didn't stand a chance with the goal, absolutely amazing strike by the Burnley lad - again, he took some blame for it on the Matchday thread.
3. Huge well done to Sane for taking the difficult option and staying on his feet to score, as he could quite easily have gone down under the shit challenge by the defender.
4. Great pass by Gundogan.

Can't wait to hear Dyche's whinging, whereas he should probably be aiming any criticism at his own players for switching off for our opener.

From what i read it's not a comparison. Why does it have to be?

Burnley play how Burnley play. That's up to them. But it'll never change that it's absolute fucking trash.

There is no need to persistently foul. There is no need to knock every ball 40 yards. There is no need to camp 11 men behind the ball.

It's not about going toe to toe. It's not about comparison. It's about trying to win the game fairly and squarely.

It's anti football. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise.

What's worse it's that Dyche is being and will continue to be lauded.

The reality is he's just a younger Sam Allardyce.

Burnley have a population of 70k a small northern market town. They are rocking with the top end of the table with a team of championship players. All credit to them, I hope they make top 6. Credit to Dyche for dicipline, organisation and getting the best he can out of the team.

Glad for the result

For Aguero and Sane scoring

For Zinchenko to have more minutes

But not for the team selection nor the subs.

I was willing to see more youngsters involved and Fernandinho must be rested.

Thought so too. Only player who was off his game a bit was Sane whose crossing was hit and miss but he still scored a good goal.

Really good all round performance against difficult opponents

Thought Sane was better than Sterling all game. He was a constant threat even when it wasn't running for him.
