Burnley (3rd rd FA Cup) Post Match thread

I don't think so. It was a small group of people having an altercation and a couple of blokes had metal bars, anyway this looked like it could've got serious until a police van, that was in the line of traffic, put on the blue lights and nipped it in the bud, and arrested the bar wielding loons.

Walk up that way to the pub, didnt see any mither, must have just missed it

Great fightback but shocking defending from Stones for Burnley goal.
Also Bravo beaten at his near post yet again a stark reminder that despite being a good penalty stopper his in game keeping is rubbish. He barely saves anything.
We need Gunner back next season for sure.

My take on yesterday was that in the first half Burnley came with to bully us in the first half, which the idiot of a ref allowed. If Ederson plays John doesn't panic and hack the ball to Barnes. This is not a slight on Claudio, but Ederson allows us to play a high defensive line. Thought Claudio played well yesterday and don't feel as nervous when he has the ball at his feet and his passing has improved. The first half felt like last season, we had a lot of the ball, didn't have many shots on target and then they scored. After the goal they reverted to parking the bus, which was to their advantage.
The free kick absolutely changed the game and Dyche is an idiot if he thinks that they are allowed to take all the time in the world to organise his defense, surely the advantage goes to the fouled team. The back heel was sublime from Gundogan and after that Burnley could no longer sit back and defend. Then Sane shredded them, The pass from Kev for the fourth was just brilliant.

Are you really suggesting that if Eddie were in nets, John wouldn't have shanked the ball?

no what I am saying is that Ederson would have been nearer the edge of his box and when John shanked it, Barnes wouldn't have been through on goal.
I will have to look at it again but my memory is telling me that Bravo was backing up to his line as the ball was lumped fwd, which, with the position of the CBs, was prob the right thing to do, but I will revisit

come on it was hit with power and pace, don't think many would have saved it from the position that Bravo was. His error was possibly not coming out and closing Barnes down, but could of been worried about bring him down and getting sent off.

Disagree. Thought the ref was solid and unflappable. Can't remember any bottling incidents. He appears to be the best of the bunch at the moment if the first half of the season was anything to go by.
Thought he was the best ref we’ve had all season who was it anyway welll done.

I don’t agree with the ones stating the first half City were not that good. We’ve seen it plenty this season even when we played Burnley at home for the league. Teams are able to cope physically for about 60 min. Therefore it looks like we are not that good or we look better the second half. I think the moment we are on top physically and bring on one or two subs we slowly and surely destroy the opponent. As we did yesterday.

Credit to Burnley for keeping up so long. The way they and similar teams need to defend and the concentration level to be 100% all the time cost them a lot of energy. Most can’t cope and from than on it’s about us being clever and clinical.

I thought all goals were great (even the one Burnley scored), but the back heel from Gundogan on Aguero was absolutely fantastic. So many backheels serve no purpose. This one however I’d on all fronts. Another 90min of enjoyment in the bag. Let’s keep it going please.

Yes maybe but he just doesn' instill any confidence in me what so ever. If Ederson copped an injury we could really struggle.
For me he's to small to be a good keeper.

Thought he was very good too

Was great when he punished their attempt at time wasting (kicking the ball away and standing in front of the ball for AGES) by letting us have a quick free kick and getting that first goal

Proper moaning wanker isn’t he?

He can fuck off.

All his team does is time waste from the first kick off. Both games against them this season, Burnley haven’t strung three passes together in either game.

Utter caveman football

I was in there around 2pm and only went in for a badge for my hat!. Yeah the metrolink queues looked a nightmare, Alan Turing Way was too and not helped by some fucking idiots getting arrested wielding metal bars near the lights across from the campus.
City or Burnley?

Moaning about his team not being ready, well maybe if Barnes had just fucked off and got into position like a good little shithouse, rather than arguing with the ref, maybe they wouldn't have left a top goalscorer completely unmarked.
