Burnley (3rd rd FA Cup) Post Match thread

How was the Match Day Forum when they scored? Server meldown?

Dunno, T. I was with the FOCs in CBL3. We thought the result was ne'er in doubt. We weren't gonna make another defensive mistake so Burnley were ne'er gonna get two, and as soon as we got the equaliser, yer could see that the Burnley back four were looking for the trainer to come on with the commode!

fair enough thats your opinion. i think they have played good football in a lot of games this season. i wouldnt say they just hoof it all the time. . compared to us maybe it is 'bad football', but its got them high up the league and they arent exactly going to be open and expansive against us
They don’t even score one goal per game.

Just on the way back. Thought we were great today. Burnley can play how they like, but they are extremely limited. Dyche is a younger Allardyce with limited tactics. Pep got it spot on and pleased he didn’t throw the competition. Just shows how good things are when all players want to play every game. I thought we missed Eddie today as he gets us moving more quickly than Bravo. Also missed Kyle with his runs. The way we toyed with them at the end, having a kick around between ourselves, like a cat playing with a mouse. Just love how the players or Pep don’t panic they have confidence in their ability to turn it around. Running out of words to describe this team and manager. Just enjoying the ride and the long journey is just forgotten about when you see this team play.

good result.

thought Danilo played really well.

silva absolute pure class as always and Kun AGAIN showing some people up on here....love it!

Lets hope for a decent draw in the next round (at least a home game)

If you are comparing it to the free flowing, quick possession based football we play, then it could be construed that way by City fans.
We have raised the bar this season and some now seem to think any team who doesn't want to go toe to toe with us must be playing anti-football.
A team winning by punching well above their weight by whatever style suits their DNA could also be construed as entertaining by their fans, that is not for you or I to call.

From what i read it's not a comparison. Why does it have to be?

Burnley play how Burnley play. That's up to them. But it'll never change that it's absolute fucking trash.

There is no need to persistently foul. There is no need to knock every ball 40 yards. There is no need to camp 11 men behind the ball.

It's not about going toe to toe. It's not about comparison. It's about trying to win the game fairly and squarely.

It's anti football. Nobody will ever convince me otherwise.

What's worse it's that Dyche is being and will continue to be lauded.

The reality is he's just a younger Sam Allardyce.

Time will tell with Dyche. Can he transform Burnley into a team that can attack as well as defend? That is the hard part. So far you could say he has done the best with what he has. Now he has to add quality. Gradual process. Managers like Sam, Pulis, Hughes etc never managed to evolve and that I think is down to it being much easier to coach defending than attacking - you also need quality to play quick one touch football. there are managers like eddie Howe who got promoted and normally play football.

Burnley play a very physical, defensively disciplined game, but I don't see that they have much choice. If Burnley could sign David Silva, I am sure they would, and they'd adjust their game accordingly

Do Bournemouth play a dirty physical game?

No is the short answer. Your argument is absolute bollox and don't get me started on you using Dave as some sort of justification.
