Alexis Sanchez

Normally would think this is "journalist" garbage or an attempt to drive up the price for us. But as the entire structural philosophy of the Trafford Nonsense is "react to what City are doing and pointlessly burn money in do doing" there may be an actual attempt in play here.

At the margins, what does Sanchez get them? Increases their 3% chance of winning the CL to 4% maybe? Hate to say it, but top 4 is probably in the bag for them this year anyway. So they get him and lump on another giant weekly wage on a near-30 player at a time when they really need to do things a bit more organically. I'd still want him here but that isn't the worst thing that could happen if he does not come.

To be fair, whatever the truth, United HAVE to make some kind of token bid for him - they'd be seen as negligent if they didn't.

Odd move from them, they face being publicly rejected in favour of their rivals and will come off as desperate when he inevitably signs for City anyway.

If he does choose united we only have ourselves to blame, just pay whatever arsenal want and get him in the squad! He obviously isn't choosing them though, just saying.

Yep SSN are even reporting United are willing to pay more for him and offer higher wages so there's no excuses about money bags city when he chooses us.

Sanchez is forgoing a massive signing on fee in Summer to sign for us and get some trophy glory with us now.

Would make no sense for him to forgo that money to join a club who won't win anything this season.

If he rejected PSG and Bayern for us then there's no way in hell that he would sign for those lot. Hopefully though this will give Txiki a kick up the backside to just get it done.

Its hard to imagine news like this coming out unless United were confident of getting him.

What motivates Sanchez would have for joining them is unclear. if he was money motivated, he surely wouldn't consider joining anyone in this window and would instead pocket a ridiculous amount by leaving on a free in the summer? If he is motivated by the prospect of winning medals, you would think United wouldn't even be in the mix at the moment. Apparently he has already turned down Bayern and PSG, both clubs that almost guarantee trophies in their domestic games and from a City point of view he would have an unbelievable chance at pocketing a Prem winners medal this season.

However this plays out, I think what this reported bid does show, is that we are nearing the end game for this whole saga.
