We won't find a better player for a smaller financial outlay. So ultimately we've made the wrong call imo.
£35m on a four year deal plus £400k per week means wages plus amortisation per year of £29.5m per year.

That’s nearly double the wages plus amortisation of KDB.

I am ok with it if it means the club will spend wisley in terms value for money.

But if we go and spend +40m on Fred, Serri ...etc then it doesnt make sense.

Hopefully Sane will be more consistent
Bernardo will show his worth
And Diaz will play more and prove that he deserve to be part of the team.

If he goes to the Rags for more money, he is not the player for us. Good luck to him partnering with lookaku. That will be something to behold! Watch his present form dip nosedive.

Fuck taking the moral high ground over transfer fees and wages. It's that sort of complacency from United that allowed us to waltz past them in the first place. We should be drilling home every possible advantage and making those ****s trail in our wake.

Also, we can choose to find excuses to try and justify why Sanchez wouldn't have been a good signing, just as we did with Alves. However, the fact remains that both Sanchez and Alves would upgrade our squad. Their age means nothing as we have a very young squad anyway. For all of those who are talking about potential disruption, I'd argue that bringing in a younger winger would ruffle Sane and Sterling's feathers a lot more than signing Sanchez would, especially in the long-term.

I just hope we don't make the same mistake we did with Danilo and spunk a load of money on an average and inferior player to our first target.

I just thought of something. What if we stole Malcom from arsenal, meaning they'll refuse to sell Sanchez to United?

Talk about 3 birds one stone.

If he signs then great our squad is strengthened if not lets get the league won so we can rest players and give Garcia and co. a chance to prove themselves. Clouds and silver linings and all that.

City agree fee with arsenal in summer? and agreed personal terms with player?
Player didn't want to stay with Arsenal but Arsenal failed to secure replacement
Arsenal didn't sell player, player furious with Arsenal as wants to play elsewhere.

January, player even more desperate to move from Arsenal, Arsenal want to sell.
Arsenal want min £X, much less than Summer, City offer less than Arsenal min.
Arsenal offered min or more from another club. Arsenal agree the 2nd club offer.
Player told Arsenal agreed 2nd club offer but not City offer. Player has x2 choices
agree personal terms with x2nd club then Arsenal release him & sell to 2nd club.
Or player not happy with 2nd club or their personal terms and he rejects move.

If player rejects move to 2nd club he can wait til summer to pursue his own wishes
without any Arsenal interference as then out of contract, but still an arsenal player.?

Arsenal could of course, if player rejects other club or personal terns, then accept the
lower offer from City, & sell in Jan, as they prefer lower offer now than zero in summer.

Sanchez doesn't want to spend another minute at Arsenal. He doesn't want Summer move

You do realise that the £400k wages only came up once the rags had thrown their hat in the ring don't you? If we'd got this done quickly instead of trying to make a point to Arsenal about the fee he'd have signed for what we offered in summer.

If he goes there for more money, I assume Pep will be upset with Sanchez not Txiki. Pep's no fool, he's worked hard to get this squad as tight as it is, he will surely understand it's more complex overall than just chucking huge sums at one player.

I can't believe how so many of our fans have so little respect for the club, & what we have acheived, that they think we should go begging a player to sign for us, because fucking Utd come in with more money.

A 29 year old 'cheap' short term, signing, becomes a huge transfer deal, because he doesn't honour his word & we are supposed to step in & ask him to change his mind ?

No fucking chance.

Some very knowledgable people on this thread continually dismiss the obvious as flapping, it’s been clear since Friday that the rags were balls deep for him, we’d made it clear we had a limit and that was that.
When wenger said no bidding war he meant it, coz we ain’t getting involved.
When peg said you have to try and sign world class players he meant it.
If we expect pep to stay for many years further we’d better mean it to.
