January transfer/its quiet Thread

Does anyone else reckon that the Transfer Window is ridiculously too long? It almost encourages chaos. We went into this window considering potential moves for a Centre Half (Although we really could survive if we trusted Tosin), some sort of cover for Left Back (but to be honest who of any quality could you get to come with knowledge of eventually playing reserve to Mendy?) and a Centre Forward.

To date, 16 days in, we have no Centre Half or Left Back, and have become overly involved in the chase of a player that we failed to land in 3 months of trying last Summer!

Its length should be no more than 10 days and this shortening would force players to accept the offers more quickly whilst this also may reduce much of the power of the biggest scourge in football, the AGENT. We could also look at tying in a 10 day Winter break to coincide with the window. This would reduce the impact of managers having to remove players from squads to allow transfers and having to play weakened teams. Of course the fact a player might miss his 10 day break might even discourage many of these players to at least see his contract through to the summer. Perhaps even the introduction of only being able to sign out of contract players in January might be a good thing for any players that have found themselves without club's in the previous Sumner whilst also helping the signing club avoid paying overly inflated transfer fees.

Only my ideas of course, but surely better than the current annual farce.

Not really clear who we really want? Who is the alternative to Sanchez?

Is Evans/Martinez just 1 of 2 CB's we are going to sign in the next 2 transfer windows to replace both Kompany and Mangala?

Which left-back will Pep sign this summer?

Well....it's pretty clear we want Fred to replace Yaya. So there is that....

Martinez will come in Jan as the only arrival. He can cover centre half and left back.
Sanchez was a target for the summer and was only coming early as we thought Jesus was out long term. Just because he is no longer coming doesn`t mean we will buy an alternative now.

Fred will come in the summer.
Out in the summer, Yaya, Bravo, Mangala, Delph (due unreliable fitness) or Zinchenko (if a decent offer comes in), and some of the fringe players on loan.
Others will arrive in the summer to replace the above. Clubs don`t usually let their best players leave in January.

That is a huge leap.
don't see it as from the WC final until the first game of the season you are talking 27 days(less if we end up having to open on a Friday night!)and if last year taught us anything it should have been that the system Pep wants the players to play is complex and not easy to pick up. So it's not only possible but probable that some of our new signings won't train at all with the team before the season starts all that leads me to believe we won't be doing a huge amount of business between now and next summer, over and above general maintenance, finding a replacement for Kompany and such

I’d out to the list of players leaving Kompany, Danilo and probably Aguero with Maffeo returning

I'd keep Delph, he has been more reliable than Kompany recently

Its actually 392 give or take... days from the WC final to the first game of the 2019 season.
