Vincent Kompany is one of our greatest ever players and captains but his recent injury record has created a revisionist history that suggests that somehow he was never that good.

Kolo Toure was awful.

Sterling isn't that good. He's got an eye for goal but can't play difficult final passes when there's any form of pressure. He'll be poor in the World Cup and become the national scapegoat. That's unless Stones does something completely disastrous. Harry Kane will do nothing and get off scot free.

The atmosphere at home games is terrible because the majority of our supporters don't support, just complain, expect every game to finish 5-0 and want to be the first to say the whole thing's going to pot and the manager should be fired, star player sold etc. It's just another form of entertainment and devoid of passion or enthusiasm.

Most of our supporters don't want to accept that Aguero is probably past his best. A few glory in being the person to say we should get rid of one of the club's genuine heroes.

We have the worst supporters in the league for communal singing.

Football supporters are idiots for accepting the price of football (I include myself in this)

Pellegrini was treated despicably by a significant minority of our supporters.

Mancini was a good but not great manager and deserved to be sacked for falling out with everyone from the board down including virtually all of our prize assets. Even if he'd been universally loved he would have been fired for our dismal performances in the Champions League.

Football would be better if clubs were genuinely owned and run by their supporters.

City are actively trying to disassociate themselves from the 30/40/50 something fanbase that got us through the 80's, 90's and 2000's because they don't want fans asking difficult questions.

Soriano treats his core customers with contempt and behaves as if he's doing us a favour

There's very little evidence that Sheikh Mansour likes football.
 
If Pep is the best in the business then why could he conceivably go five seasons without winning the Champions League? I don’t believe we will win it this season.

On a personal level, I want Ryan Giggs to succeed as Wales manager (I’m Pembrokeshire born) and have no issue wearing red shirts.

agree with this, he is slowly but surely showing more and more bias, it just seeps out of him , but hes not as bad as his brother, phil is an out and out twat, im still seething over his comment about bristol city fans , saying " these fans have come here to watch united".. but at the end of the day, both are twunts big ugly twunts at that

We all know this, but the fact that they all, to a man, gave up and en masse didn't give a shit still rankles with me. A cup final for bejeezus sake! A chance to win a medal. The glory etc etc . If those players had the attitude that Wigan had, we'd be looking at our 7th straight PL title by now. Pah!!
 
Whatever Pep, and those after him, achieve (and I hope it's a fucking shedload) I will only ever have truly loved one manager in my City lifetime:

Right.. I hate the rags but actually felt a bit sorry for them under Moyes and Van Gaal. Happy to say that with them under Maureen I am back to full on hatred. And yes I have been supporting City since 82 and know the shit we put up with for years from their supporters.

I liked watching Cantona and Scholes play.

Toure needed to go 18 months ago and we should have kept Fernando instead.

The atmosphere at Maine Road was not as good as many make out on BM.

Kinky was a great player but I actually preferred Dave White.
 
  • Mourinho is a very good manager and with a better squad United would be up there with us in the table
  • I rate both Pogba and De Gea
  • I think some posters on this forum are physically incapable of having a reasonable discussion about United which I think is a great shame
  • Klopp and Conte are good for the PL
  • Kane is nowhere near enough of a clutch player to be considered a world class footballer at present. Might be within a couple of years though. He's appropriately the Pochettino (as a manager) of players
  • Christian Eriksen would make a great Silva replacement
  • Our most complete and best performance this season was in the 1st half away at Feyenoord
  • I don't give a shit about atmosphere, singing, early leavers etc. And I think it's lame when supporters have a go at other supporters for not being good enough fans. Particularly ones that pay for tickets and go to matches.
  • Delph is a tad overrated. Not for his performances, but for his actual level of ability.
  • Sterling is still really underrated
  • Danilo is an easy target because he's new
  • Walker has been our best player this season after KDB
  • People still don't understand what it is Jesus does and it's annoying to read that 'He runs a lot and only scores tap ins'
  • In fact, people still don't understand that most of the actual work we do on the pitch is off the ball
  • Otamendi is also still underrated somehow
  • Silva has had just as many problems linking up as any other player has with Sane. In fact, it's annoying how often it isn't Sane's fault
  • People seem to forget how young the likes of Sane, Sterling, Bernardo, Ederson, and Jesus are at times (and I'm sure Mendy too when he's back)
  • "We need a big man to get on the end of all these crosses" - We absolutely don't
  • Aguero is clearly over the hill and doesn't fit into the way we play, and the way some people turn a blind eye to it is embarrassing
  • Despite that, he's still a sensational player who in the right (maybe not big) games is the perfect player for us and the way people have got on his back is equally embarrassing. You can be critical without being a dick
  • Bravo has got A LOT of unfair stick this season from certain quarters for someone who's not done that much wrong
  • Foden is way better than Diaz is right now
  • Diaz has far more potential than Foden though and is much more likely to make it at City
  • As excellent as they are, football simulation games like FM are not scouts and people need to realize that
  • My most out there and controversial idea, but I believe Pep in his ideal world has chosen Sterling to be heir apparent to Silva
  • I believe I was the first or one of the first on the player thread to question Ederson's positioning. I regret it.
  • I think it's weird that people get upset that football clubs are run as businesses

  • Speaking of Castles, he's an irritating example of a potentially good journalist ruining himself due to his biases. He often makes very good points and I think he has it in him to be a great journalist. But it's his ability to write well and intelligently combined with these biases that makes him a great evil on the game instead. Custis too to a lesser extent, although he's a weaker writer
  • Alyson Rudd however is simply a very bad journalist. I wouldn't count on her to be able to tell me the time correctly. The fact she's so blatantly bad means she's less harmful.
  • I like both Sam Lee and Sammy Lee
  • And lastly, I never liked being the butt of every joke from United fans at every stage of my life before 2012. But for that reason I try not to take the piss out of them now, as I'm not the eye for an eye kind of guy (But that's just me. I don't want to impose this idea)

- A fan who has been around for years who unfortunately lives miles away (e.g. Nigeria) - fair enough - but most people like that are fans because we are good. They aren't fans. They are followers.

- the good old days (ignoring shit quality grounds) were good old days. Drawing away to a team 12th was a real buzz. A point gained. Now you can be disappointed with a draw away at the team 7th. A win is needed to stay with others. When you are shite expectation is lower and any non defeat is a great weekend. Gillingham will always be as enjoyable a day for me as QPR
