Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez is a good player. But we won''t sign a marquee forward this summer if he comes. That's the downside. Unless Aguero leaves of course.

Would also much prefer Fred now.

He's got quick feet and can go round a player, which is very handy playing against packed defences.

If i was an ITK, i'd like to think i'd be like your good self. No attention seeking, just honest info you hear from time to time and not just following leads in the press.

If you hear something you post it in good faith, if you don’t know anything you don’t make stuff up either to please the masses. Good for you

Cheers mate. It just comes from going to academy games. You get to know a lot of people who are really deeply involved in the game at a very intricate level. The kind of people that if they tell me sumat, I know it's pretty much bang on reliable. I try and keep it off twitter as its a mess. Not too bad on here though. I don't know if we'll sign a winger, but we certainly told some that we were planning to now there's no Fred.

If what Martin Samuel said is true re ffp 2.0, then City could have a bunch of players battling it out for various positions & sell on the ones who don't hack it, thus increasing the transfer budget for incomings above 90 mil.

We are definitely reacting to the probability of further restriction/sanction.Mahrez is another who can play the false 9,something i think Pep prefers to an out and out striker.

What worries me about Mahrez, is he was one who downed tools the year after Leicester won league, then started to play again when Ranieri was fired. We have had a bit of that here a few years ago. Still, no doubting his ability.

He is the best 1v1 player in the premier league without a doubt and it's a joke to even debate it

Against teams with an embarrassingly low block where we are camped on their 18 yard box at times, his ability to get close and stepover his was through 2 men at a time is ridiculous
It makes sense tactically for that reason alone

Even away in the cup tie especially he had us on strings at one phase in the game
Honestly it would make up for missing out on Sanchez. This guy has balls and dragged that shite leicester side to a title and single handedly took the piss out of city when they won 3-1.

Always buzzed off Mahrez. I’ve always said he just needs to play in a top team to really cement himself as world class and I really think he’s that good.

Pep says he's 95% sure there'll be no more transfers in this window but he also says Sané's out for 6-7 weeks. For a club as well-run as ours I can't imagine we'd let both of those statements be true.

So Mahrez is the player who refused to train this morning? Looks like he's trying to force a move then.

Only 26 too! I had the impression he was 29/30 but he's not actually much older than De Bruyne.
It's really strange, I had the exact same impression for some reason. I'm a big fan of his though and think he would do really well in our side. Also a minor thing, but from a team building perspective it also doesn't hurt to have a 26/27 year old in the position to balance out the young guys.

I think he means it's unrealistic to get someone until the window shuts, but they'll try to.

But if they won't sell now that is not exactly something we can do much about. It is not like we did not try hard.

He's definitely talented but do we need him though? We have Sane, Sterling and Bernardo Silva rotating in the wings and I doubt he can do a job playing in the middle.

Sane out for 6-7 weeks. I thought this might’ve been Bernardo’s time to shine. Can’t help but wonder what this means for him, Foden and Diaz if it happens.

That's three players for two positions, one of them is injured and another has played a huge amount of football already this season.
